This week, Ariel is joined by Dr. Christianna Taylor and science youtuber Scott Manley to talk about the movie Gravity! While the 2013 film has been picked apart in popular media, we focus on the topic of orbital debris and how real astronauts and the ISS grapple with its presence in Earth orbit.

Oh, hello there Scott Manley!
Thanks Areil. Another great episode, and very interesting guests
what bugged me was that they’d put ISS, Tiangong and HST all in the same orbit
Liked the movie and this feature a lot!
Also Scott!
I liked some aspects of the movie and hated others. It portrayed great courage and resourcefulness. However I also saw a strong anti-technological message – in a movie made using the latest technology. Grim death in space, woman emerging from water in a beautiful landscape on Earth.
There’s something about an anti-tech movie made in a state where the first three Spanish colonies died out due to drought that sets my teeth on edge.
