HTC Vive Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate Review

With HTC’s announcement of a family of Vive Cosmos virtual reality headsets, we revisit the Cosmos to see how it’s held up and test the new external tracking faceplate that gives it SteamVR Lighthouse tracking. Plus, an interview with HTC about the state of Cosmos tracking updates, modular faceplate strategy, and future of VR for the company!

  1. HTC must have a lot of business deals, right? Otherwise the Cosmos lineup makes even less sense now for consumers. The new high end option directly competes with the Index, where it loses in every respect from what I know. The regular Cosmos still doesn’t make sense because it’s the same price. The low end model might make sense? But if the halo strap is identical, most people should probably still get the Rift S as it’ll be more comfortable.

    What HTC should really do is drop the price on the Vive Pro headset by $100, and drop the bundle price by $100-200, which then makes it competitive with the Index.
