Star Wars Archive Collection Character Maquettes!

At Star Wars Celebration 2022, we meet up with Regal Robot’s Tom Spina and take a look at the new Star Wars Archive Collection of character maquette replicas from the production of the original Star Wars. Tom explains the lineage of figures like a set of four Taun Taun concept sculpts, which Phil Tippet original sculpted to explore the design of the creature to present to George Lucas. Here’s how the artists at Regal Robot digitally scan and recreate these artifacts from the making of Star Wars!

Life-Size Star Wars Imperial Probe Droid Robot Build!

One of our favorite things we saw at this year’s Star Wars Celebration was Mike McMaster’s remote-controlled Imperial Probe Droid. This life-size recreation of the menacing Viper droid as seen in The Empire Strikes Back was 3D printed over the course of a year, and wired with servos, motors, lights, and sound effects all remotely controlled by McMaster and his son. We catch up with Mike to learn about the build of this incredible robot and how it’s being stress tested at the convention!
