  1. “Ton of bars” has to be the understatement of all time. 6th street is Austin’s Bourbon street.

  2. I say they skip 200 move on to episode 201 and circle back to it. Either that or they will have to start calling them “The New Episode 199a”

6th street is the best. I need to head back down there one of these days. Austin is just a fun town.

  4. If they can have a series called “Still Untitled” then they can have one called “Still not Episode 200.”

  6. in reference to “wearables” is there a way they could make the screen transparent when not in use, with an analog/digital watch face behind it so it can function as a watch when not being “smart”?

  7. said he wouldn’t mind false positives on a motion activated smart watch, apart from it draining battery life.

I’ve had a watch* with a motion activated back-light for about 10 years now and I haven’t used the function for years because of the false positives. It’s designed so that if you turn the watch face toward your face and the environment is dark enough the backlight activates for a few seconds.

It works pretty well most of the time and seems it’s programmed with several ranges of motion it interprets as you turning it to see the time. However, “pretty well” means it does have false positives, and those false positives start to be pretty annoying when you’re doing something with your hands in the dark or if you, like me, like to sleep wearing your watch.

It seemed like a small problem at first but after a few months I still found it annoying enough that I decided to turn the function off and used the backlight manually. I still use it occasionally when I’m doing something that requires me to be able to see the time without touching my watch, but 99% of the time, I keep it in manual mode.

  8. Nokia’s Glance screen is basically what a smart watch needs. If it’s using AMOLED then it’ll only turn on the pixels it needs to show the time (and notifications if you choose). I don’t notice a significant impact on battery life on my 920 though, which has an LCD. I think something like this would greatly improve the battery life on these devices.

  9. Hey Guys, I wanted to clarify on the “best sales scenario possible for an accessory”. From Wikipedia… “24 million units of Kinect had been shipped by February 2013. Having sold 8 million units in its first 60 days on the market, Kinect has claimed the Guinness World Record of being the “fastest selling consumer electronics device'”
