Peak Comic Con – Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project – 3/29/18

As Adam and Norm gear up for a production shoot this weekend, we get together to chat about Adam’s experience at the March for Our Lives, a Kubrick prop replica he’s working on, and the trend for pop culture conventions over the past few years. Plus, we can’t wait to talk about Ready Player One. Did you like the film?

  1. My wife used to work for Leapfrog when my son was very young. We often would get different toys to try out at home – an we got this Octopus to help him learn to count to 8. The song was so burned into our psyche – that we cursed the musician and it turned into an inside joke in our marriage. Fast forward to a company holiday party – and I run into the guy who wrote and sang the song that haunted my life. Words were exchanged – but his first response – “You’re not the first one to say this.”

  2. Number of times Adam triggered my Echo by saying ‘Alexa’ , at least 500. Like Will’s mine has also become a little janky recently 🙁

  3. Unsubscribing as Will suggested (canceled Premium membership). I’m sorry to see people that I trusted take up an anti-liberty position. You’re all smarter than this. You know that inanimate objects can be both dangerous and useful at the same time. I’m sad to go. I loved the content, but I can’t support people who are advocates of citizen disarmament.

  4. Ready Player One was surprisingly good. I wasn’t really that excited for it, like Norm.. in the trailer, it just looked like a hodge-podge of random 80’s pop culture with no plot. The Back to the Future Delorean seemed like it would be corny. Alas, the film exceeded the trailer-set expectations. While campy, Ready Player One delivers a fun experience. I found myself smiling throughout the whole film.

  5. So my 6 and 4 years olds say “Hey Google Lady” and then usually stutter and not say what they want. Anyway, whenever open my phone in a meeting to show someone something it invariably is on chrome with the last search as ‘lady’.. embarrassing.

  6. Adam thanks for the shout out! We are going to have fun making these Starchilds on the 50 anniversary of the greatest Science fiction movie ever made.

  7. In regards to RPO; I enjoyed the book and equally enjoyed the film. I too found myself smiling through most of the movie. While different than the book, the differences still scratched that similar pop culture itch for me. I look forward to seeing it again soon to discover some more references I am sure I missed and experience my favorite part of the film, that first race. Overall, I feel the 70-80% average rating that I have been seeing is justified.

  8. Absolutely loved Ready Player One, it felt rushed a lot of the time and it didn’t stick to much as written in the book, but it felt really true to the story the novel was trying to tell.
