Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: Spacesuit Display Stand!

This weekend build is a speedy one: Adam recently saw the need to improve the display stands for his spacesuits in the workshop, so they both look better displayed as well as are easier to work on while standing up. It’s a build that’ll require modifying a foam mannequin with a welded stand, and makes use of an effective self-leveling laser tool!

  1. Please, please, please! get the man a lapel mic/recorder, there’s only so much post processing will fix before it just gets a nasty garbled mess (Norm at the end was also especially poor quality this time). He should well understand the problems and be familiar with dealing with them, and now that he has been using a shop apron, it’d be easy enough to have it live on there with him, with the phone’s audio as backup/supplemental.

I love the new one man crew format, and seeing Adam cope splendidly with handling everything, I just wish it could be that tiny bit better for us, the viewers.

    Please and thanks!

  2. Jeez, that tangle of straps on the back of the apron would drive me insane!

I like the stand a lot, though it seems more like a Smithsonian stand than a NASA stand.

  3. : Norm’s sounds like it’s compressed out the whazoo. It’s like watching a theatre rip of a movie off of Megavideo back in the day…
