Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: Star-Lord’s Walkman!
Adam’s latest prop build is a replica of Star-Lord’s Walkman from Guardians of the Galaxy! This is a styrene scratch build using some of Adam’s favorite modelmaking materials and techniques. And a few firsts for a One Day Build–the use of a vinyl cutter for the logos, as well as a minor injury mid-build!

I suppose that’s one way to make an orange button haha!
This turned out amazing. I’ve never made anything with styrene, but just the way you hold it in place and brush it with that weldy stuff almost looks like magic and/or cheating!
Cosplay and props are kinda outside of my usual genre of builds, but oh man, having watched this and your other videos using it, I just need to come up with something to make with it. Looks like real wholesome, satisfying fun.
This is awesome, long time follower here.
Love the content, much love for all makers:)
Every time I see work with tools I brace myself for the “So Adam lost a finger vlog entry”Would love to see Adam do a “Tool Safety” series?
I appreciate when you’re doing stuff and in the zone caution goes to the wind (We’ve all disabled safety devices to speed things up at some point 😉 )
I think it would be nice to show the next gen safety tips?
Yep,I’m 42 now – this is what happens when you get old.
Now I want to know what Kayte was making.
Superb video. The whole team really nailed this one. Also loving all the project egress maker bio posts. Keep up the good work.
I think that was obvious. This was posted a couple of weeks ago: https://www.tested.com/art/makers/885516-adam-savage-incognito-star-lord-silicon-valley-comic-con-2019/
She was clearly working on Star-Lord’s mask in the early part of the video.
Holy Moly ,
I watched your Incognito Video and thought that the Walkman was real. Brilliant Work .
I’m not sure you get to brag about saving $400 when you destroy a $200 Pelican case in the process 🙀
This is absolutely awesome! I love the one day builds. Thanks for sharing!
Look at what sony just released
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2019/09/06/business/tech/sony-40th-anniversary-walkman/#.XXOLwu9E2Ed
Yeah, 440 euros and not sold to the US yet. And doesn’t play cassettes? That is a total waste of money.
Adam, thank you for keeping the styrene projects coming! Please do more!
OMSL! (Ohh my star lord) Deep slips with a sharp blade are the worst to put an instant stop on a build. I usualy find that I end up sanding through my fingertips (to blood) on a regular basis… as a result my fingerprint login for my phone has to be updated almost weekly. Luckily I dont suffer from the same blood nausia, but have to say that you dealt with it impecably well.
Ok anybody going to mention that mind bending cut scene around 10:00 lol
hahaha he is a genius. We loved walkman in the guardian of the galaxy and the movie was super duper awesome. And if anyone using walkman and facing any issue you can contact geek squad tech support by visiting their website https://geeksupporttech.com/
Adam always has a likable demeanor but when he injured himself in the making of this video, he did not hide his humanity from us. We love you, Adam!
heyAdam I’ve been working on making my own Walkman but I was wondering where did you find that reference picture with all the sides
