PREMIUM – Adam Savage and Broken Nerd’s Costume Build, Part 3
On the third day of this costume build, it’s time to focus on the costume’s accessories. Darrell works on adding a big dent to his Knights of Ren helmet and painting it, while Adam gets to work on their custom lightsabers. Pulling parts from his shelf of unfinished projects, the sabers going to be composed of found parts combined with machined ones. We also get a peak into the cave’s rarely-seen loft storage!

Press pause to read light saber sticker. Screen becomes slightly opaque.
Why, tested? In what possible universe could that be considered a desirable feature?
I love you guys, but your player is jank.
Grumbling aside, I love this series.
When he put the helmet on the rest of the costume, looked freaking awesome! Great work guys.
This has been such a fun series and…
BONUS!!! LIGHT SABER BUILD!!!
always very cool
Adam is my role model. Someday I hope to have a warehouse full of shit. I’m already halfway there 😛
Love it!
Starts out normal and then booom.. Lighstaber build.. Bonus. I love it
– Mortalwombat: I dit the same thing! Never realized it makes the frame unreadable when you pause. Even though I like the esthetic decision there… please don’t do that when your main content type is build vids with all kinds of interesting stuff your viewers might wat to inspect more closely 😛
Also: Why do I get errors when I try to reply to people?
Fun to watch. I crave more collaboration between Adam and Darrell though. I’m sure there is too much work to be done in not enough time to be working together but the moments when Adam comes over to admire Darrell’s work are awesome. I imagine there will be a lot more admiration and reflection when it’s all complete though.
Re: When pausing the video you can hide the dimming overlay easily enough if you know a bit of CSS trickery and inspecting the player element.
.oo-fading-underlay { display: ‘none’; }
There is probably a CSS override browser extension you could put in and maybe always have the problem solved.
Adam skimming through his scrap is like Jonathan Winters doing voices while playing with his hat collection.
My god Adam, now i completely understand why doing a Boba Fett costume/build would drive you crazy lol!
Watching the pure joy on Adam’s face while he’s digging through his junk is one of my favorite things… i could watch him dig through boxes of bits and bobs for hours. I imagine its like the junk lady from the Labyrinth… “ooohh what have we got here? oh yes yes yes oh look here its your old microscope! you don’t wanna throw that away do you? now then what else? ooohh yes yes look here its more stuff!”
Would love to see some bits to atoms or Model Behavior with Darrell appearances and collaborations. This was a great series!
Do you have a warehouse halfway full of shit? :O
Most makers start with the warehouse-worth of shit years before having a place to put it 🙂
It’s all shit, no warehouse 😛
When can we see episode 4 of this amazing build???
How is it that I can even enjoy a clip of Adam going through the bin of odds and ends ten minutes in!?!
Thanks for the tip!
I also had to add the following rule to get rid of the blur completely:
Perfect. Yea, after I posted I realized that it’s not just the overlay that’s a problem. Thanks for the updated CSS tweak. Using the ‘Stylebot’ extension you can make that a semi-permanent fix for tested.com.
