Adam Savage’s Weekend Builds: Material Storage Improvements

During the stay-at-home order, Adam has been spending a lot of time fine-tuning and using his lathe and milling machine. In this shop infrastructure build, he adjusts and modifies his material storage related to those two key shop tools!

  1. One of the things I love about watching Adam’s videos is listening to his thought process while building something — this one was pretty much all timelapses during the build process (which sometimes I don’t mind for repetitive tasks) but I’d love to keep at least some of the builds in real time if possible. Thanks and have a great holiday weekend!

  2. Adam as an optician with over 20 years experience, talk to an optician that will give you better advice than a CR-39 Executive Bifocal. The Executive Bifocal has bad optics, is thicker than needed, has distortion you don’t need, and is not impact resistant unless you really up the thickness. You always look over your glasses, you don’t need to. A good optician can really hone into what you need and make something that works in specific tasks. In your case no 1 pair of glasses will be perfect but a couple pair will work great for you if you find that old school optician.

  3. Hi Norm,

Just love this kind of ODB’s as they give me ideas on how to do better storage in my own workshop. I enjoyed seeing how proud Adam was of his lathe chucks, he has done very well. Now here’s a challenge for him, can he create a storage system for them (so let’s say… a faceplate and four chucks) WITHOUT using the table saw!! I don’t have one (or the space for one) and so I have to work around this fact. Would love to see what Adam can come up with.

Hope that this can be done.
