They are both great in their own way and serve different types of users. Apple in general has a very good build quality, comparable with the more expensive PC competitors. PC's tend to be more focussed on specs and competition so they are more likely to cut corners on build quality.
Most Macs are out-specced by cheaper PC's. Macs provide less freedom and that translates to more 'ease of use' for certain users. Some of your issues might be easy to solve or even just changing a setting. After using a Mac it will take some time to get acquainted tot PC.
I'm the type of user that prefers a Mac. Build quality is one of the reasons.
