Just registered for this, long time reader (love from Canuckistan)
Just came across the Chronos 1.4 highspeed camera on Taofledermaus' latest video
(here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5TjWu7snyI )
in the video description, he has it at 21,650fps (min resolution) for the price of only $2,500.
for a camera that uses nothing proprietary; that's basically 'open source' ... which has me salivating like a wolf who's spotted an injured deer.
in the Taofledermaus video he does a quick run through of the Camera in it's Beta form and it's absurdly impressive.
is anyone aware of any camera that comes close to this?
the only info I could find on it outside of the Taof video is from the builder himself:
1.4 Gigapixel per second throughput
-1280x1024 at 1050fps
-Lower resolutions at higher speeds
-8, 16, or possibly 32GB RAM
-Storage on SD card, USB drive, SATA hard drive
-Raw video saving
-No PC needed for operation
-AC Adapter or battery (1.75 hour per charge)
[runs a pre-record buffer of 4 or 8 seconds, has a remote, CS mount with an included C adapter]
The builder is going to start a gofundme/kickstarter and i'm wondering if there is a comparable camera before I drop the cash buying this one... though, that's not to say that I would be disappointed if that was the case, by my first impressions this is a ton of camera for the money.
thanks in advance!
