The Talking Room: Adam Savage Interviews Astro Teller
Adam Savage welcomes Astro Teller to The Talking Room! Astro is Google’s ‘Captain of Moonshots’, directing the Google X lab where self-driving cars, smart contact lenses, and other futuristic projects are conceived and made real. Adam sat down with Astro at the Tested Live Show this past October to chat about the benefits of thinking big and failing quickly.

YAY! I thought I had heard that this interview was possibly lost because of audio recording problems during the live show. I’m so glad that it wasn’t. I was seated in the 3rd row for the show and thoroughly enjoyed this interview – I’m so glad that I get to relive it. At the meet and greet after the show, I had the opportunity to chat briefly with Mr. Teller and found him to be a genuinely friendly, engaging person. I also had the honor of meeting his grandfather many years ago as well. Thanks again Adam and Tested crew for bringing us this series – you guys rock!
This was a great Talking Room, thanks so much for sharing it with us!
Wow, this is just absolutely amazing. Like this totally rekindled my dream of maybe working for Google 😛 . Man, that must be one amazing work environment.
You know last week when I saw ‘Teller’ on the list the beaver was holding, my first thought was ‘I thought Teller didn’t talk on camera. Ever. Is Penn going to be there, too?’
He does talk on camera, I thought it was going to be him, too.
Very interesting. I expect Adam & Jamie to be consulting for X projects (sounds like its right down their alley). Can I get Adam to write me a letter of recommendation? Well done with this interview gang!
I would imagine they simply don’t have the time, and X projects seem very time consuming. If I’m not mistaken, Jamie has said several times that he can no longer take in big projects at M5 because of Mythbusters.
I really, really enjoyed this. I would love a full Talking Room with Mr. Teller if possible!
Smart guy… getting asked smart questions, from another smart guy, I could listen to this all day!! PS Adam, I’m House Flyman at Wicked Broadway stop in anytime, I’d love to show you & any guests you have around the theater. PS Tested rules!!
Another fantastic talking room episode!!!
Do we wait for the Still Untitled podcast or must I watch the video?
If we do a kickstarter to raise the money can we just hire Adam and Astro to talk for a day or so in front of a camera?
Very cool
Thanks for sharing!
I am glad to know that my lighting stuff on fire as a kid is approved by the Captain of Moonshots at Google.
Great stuff, totally agree with Adam’s sentiment at the end of the video, pity they couldn’t talk longer.
