Obviously I'm in love with cons for their enthusiastic communities and also the amazing and awesome cosplay. For SiliCON, I'm going deep. We plan to not only celebrate cosplay and fandom in general, but also specifically to celebrate the MAKING, the MASHUPS, the PERFORMANCE, and the rich tapestry of COLLABORATION that brings cosplayers incredible ideas to life.
I've been immersed in maker culture forever, and I'm bringing that lens and sensibility to our con. I want everyone to fly their freak flag, because when we share and exult in those parts of ourselves, the world is truly a brighter place.
I also love that SiliCON is taking place in October this year, because the only thing better than wearing a costume on Halloween is having a second opportunity to wear that costume! So amateurs and professional cosplayers alike will all find something in the offerings we are planning.
And of course the amazing team that put Silicon Valley Comic Con together in past years has always demonstrated a great passion for panels on science and tech, and that isn't changing one bit! We'll be talking about space exploration (I'll likely bring some of my spacesuits for display), sustainable design and engineering tech, and new discoveries and innovations among tons of other areas!
SiliCON takes place Oct. 16 to 18, 2020, in San Jose, Calif. Stay tuned for more announcements, and for more information and tickets, go to the SiliCON site.
