Adam’s next big costume project is a return to his build-up of his Iron Man Mark 1 armor! Previously, Adam reworked the costume’s chest chassis and shoulder parts, and today he’s tackling the legs and boots of the suit. Even though the castings are a good foundation to work off of, it’s going to take a lot of modification and scratch building to get the armor ready for wear. Next up will be painting the whole thing! Adam has recently been obsessed with watching restoration videos online, and there’s something used in all of those videos that he absolutely loves: Evapo-Rust rust remover. Adam is a fan of how safe and effective it is to use, and how it can be reused over and over again too. Here’s how it works on two pieces of rusted parts from the Tested studio and around the cave.

Adam shares a piece of his cave’s collection that he acquired over a decade ago: a replica Van Gogh painting that he bought after reading about a town in China that specializes in recreating classic artworks. And while he was very pleased with the veracity of the fake Van Gogh, it wasn’t until he found the perfect frame for it that the object became truly satisfying!

Tested member Jeffrey McCullough asks Adam, “My favorite myth is lead balloon. I’ve heard you talk about it before, but the other day you mentioned the problems you had with the suppliers equipment failing the day you were to get the materials. Any other stories about this bust?” So, SO MANY! Join this channel to support Tested and get access to perks, like asking Adam a question.
Tested member Jordon Freeman wanted to know, “Do you think the controversy caused by ‘plane on a conveyor belt’ will ever end?” Oh boy. Here’s Adam’s answer, and thank you, Jordon, for your support! Join this channel to support Tested and get access to perks, like asking Adam a question.
As Adam becomes more familiar with the post-processing workflow for his new Formlabs 3L 3D printer, he goes through the rite of passage for SLA 3D printer owners: building his own UV curing oven for finishing his resin print parts. It’s a straightforward build that can be adapted for any size, and Adam goes big to make a parts curing station that can hold all the prints that come off of the Form 3L’s large build plate! We test the Elegoo Saturn resin mSLA 3D printer, and capture our test prints using a new time-lapse accessory developed by Uncle Jessy and Andrew Sink! ResinLapse is a clever way to synchronize a Canon DSLR’s shutter to the exact moment each layer of your print is cured, producing mesmerizing time-lapse video that looks like a print is emerging smoothly out of resin vat. Norm shows how this works with the Elegoo Saturn and some considerations when 3D printing this way.

Adam recently made a replica of the royal crown featured in the musical Hamilton and the show ‘The Crown’–most famously the centerpiece of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. And upon finishing that build, Adam wanted to immediately try making it again using everything he learned in his first attempt. What follows is a rare One Day Build revisited where the second replica may look like the original at a glance, but done using new construction methods and finishing techniques that makes it so much better!
