bhildenbrandon April 14, 2010 at 12:34 p.m.
jean shorts? really?
norman staff on April 14, 2010 at 12:51 p.m.
@bhildenbrand: I think Gary was just wearing regular jeans. Though as a successful hollywood screenwriter, he can do whatever he wants!

And one of my favorite video series gets one of the worst videos on the site. No surprise, but ... c'mon. That went on about 5 minutes too long.
hkroekeron April 14, 2010 at 1:17 p.m.
absolutely love what's in your bag vids... but I can't wait until the apple circle-jerk is over.

I have nothing to say about this video because I struggle to watch anything on Tested anymore due to uncontrollable laughter at the 'PC Demystified' banner.

I think it's the eyebrow. Or the top hat. No, definitely the eyebrow.

That is all.

It is such an awesome banner. I wonder who made it, that man/woman is a genius!
gunslingeron April 14, 2010 at 2:31 p.m.
Oh cool is this the guy who appeared on Gamespot's "Hotspot" podcast a while back talking about his screenplays?

Also sure your ipad does all you need but a laptop/netbook does all that and more without any significant increase in size. You could still fit one of those into your man-bag...
HawkeyeGCCon April 14, 2010 at 2:38 p.m.
Oh, boy, more Mac-sturbation.
Kinjiroon April 14, 2010 at 2:50 p.m.
Is this a "What's in your bag?" or 5min iPad commerical?
crusader8463on April 14, 2010 at 2:56 p.m.
I'm getting the feeling that this site is secretly supported by Mac. It seems like almost every video, podcast or news article on here seems to always come back to praising a Mac product as being the greatest thing on the fucking planet.

I'm sure that's an exaggeration, but as someone who despises all things Mac it kind of becomes noticeable when it happens and the frequency that i seem to be noticing it occurring is becoming much more often.

Teeheehee. I actually feel ashamed of myself for not thinking up that obvious joke myself. I must be tired.

Gary seems like a cool guy and has a pretty awesome shirt, so I will not dismiss this video for being too apple-y.

What's in your bag, Gary?

You guys really need to get over your mac issues. I don't own one, but what I do know is that every time in recent history that Apple has launched a product, it has changed the market (see iPod, iPhone).

Tested just so happened to launch around the time Apple was launching their next big product - the iPad, and like it or not, all signs are currently pointing towards it too changing the industry.

Sorry to all you stalwarts, but this isn't MaximumPC, it's a consumer focused tech site. Get over it and enjoy the content.

This. Though, I'm surprised Gary carries so little. Throw a banana in there, that nifty bag is going to waste.

sorry if the video felt overly mac-centric -- gary came in last week to join us on the podcast, and we decided to film a what's in your bag. the timing just coincided with the week of the ipad launch, and it was honestly the only thing in his bag.

we shot the video anyway because it makes an interesting point about what type of computing devices people need to have with them on the go, and whether the ipad is a capable replacement for a notebook/netbook. the hope was that it would give you some insight into the tools of a screenwriter while also spurring discussion about the different mobile needs.

Will and I carry full-powered laptops, cameras, and accessories because we need those things for work. Gary's point is that for his job, the ipad does everything he needs. Of course, that's not going to be the case for other guests we have on this segment.

ipad fever (and the fact that gary is the biggest apple fan we know) did contribute to the tone of the video, but rest assured that we'll be doing a lot more than just apple coverage in the future.
litrockon April 14, 2010 at 4:04 p.m.
@Zaph:   It's not even so much that I have mac issues, it's that he's obviously in raving fanboy mode and it totally spoiled the point of the video. The bag's light, that could have been a great joke. Instead we get a painful examination of a newspaper app while he talks about it being 'magical'. Talk about regurgitating marketing.

You know what that app had? FRAMES!  Frames on an almost-website. Welcome to 1997, the internet is back to frames. Christ. That's what made me annoyed, the oohing over nothing.
litrockon April 14, 2010 at 4:28 p.m.
@norman: Thanks Norm, though now I feel like an ass for making you feel like you had to defend your video. I understand where it comes from. And I appreciate it and the site. I think the internet, especially on the tech side, especially if you don't have one, is suffering collective apple fatigue.  We're all a little raw about it. Feels weird, because I played with one and it was neat. But the coverage is just boggling.
