Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to Retire within 12 Months

After 13 years at the helm of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer is retiring. The Microsoft CEO announced that within the next year, he will leave the company he has worked at for 33 years after a successor is found. This news comes just over one year after the launch of Windows 8, the departure of Windows lead Steve Sinofsky, and a major company reorganization last month. Here's who Microsoft-watcher Mary Jo Foley thinks is on the short list for the next head of Microsoft. (No it won't be Elon Musk, Marissa Mayer, or Ben Affleck.)
