If a high-speed Cheetah robot wasn't enough for you, DARPA has released new video of its Legged Squad Support System (LS3), an autonomous robot that can carry more than 400 pounds of gear through rough terrain to support soldiers on the field. The field test video demonstrates how the LS3--which incorporates mobility technology from Boston Dynamics' famous BigDog project--can follow watch and soldiers' paths without direct control, as well as make path decisions for itself to navigate obstacles. It'll also be able to take verbal and visual commands and act as a charging station for field equipment. Need a dispenser here!
