I've always wanted a robotic exoskeleton that would simultaneously protect and enhance my frail human body. While the full exoskeleton of my dreams is still a ways off, NASA and General Motors have built a first step, the Human Grasp Assist device.
Nicknamed the Robo-Glove, the HGA is designed to minimize short-term fatigue and long-term damage caused by holding heavy tools for extended periods or straining your fingers while wearing heavy spacesuit gloves during a long spacewalk. The gloves add about 10 pounds of force to your grip and share technology with the Robonaut 2.
If you're looking forward to crushing marble with your new super-human hands, you'll be disappointed. The Robo-Glove won't give you incredible strength, they only increase your endurance.
