It looks like Leap Motion, the IR-based gesture control system announced last May, has begun reaching the hands of developers. According to the company's Twitter account, the $70 consumer model that's up for pre-order now will get a definite release date later this month. But developers are already tinkering with the tiny controller that touts sub-millimeter tracking accuracy using proprietary algorithms (the hardware is just cheap IR LEDs). YouTube videos of Leap Motion in the wild already show some promise; let's hope the system becomes more than just another way to play Fruit Ninja or a fancy digital theremin. If you're a developer who has one of these early kits, let us know what you're using it for!
