In Brief: The Xbox One Controller Works on Windows Now

By Will Smith

You can finally use your Xbox One controller on the PC, with one major caveat.

Yesterday, Major Nelson posted Windows 7 and 8 drivers for the Xbox One controller. When you plug the controller into your PC using a standard microUSB cable, it shows up in games as an Xbox 360 controller. If you wanted a wireless option, it seems like you're out of luck for the time being. There doesn't seem to be a way to connect the controller to a Wi-Fi Direct-capable PC.
