The results of the 2012 Spiel des Jahres are in! The Spiel des Jahres is awarded to the game that a panel of German, Swiss, and Austrian board gaming journalists best represents excellence in board game design. This year's winner is Kingdom Builder, the latest game from Donald X. Vaccarino. This is the second time Vaccarino has won the award, he previously won for his excellent deck-building game, Dominion.
The 2012 Kennerspiel des Jahres, the category for more complex games, was won by Inka and Marcus Brand's Village. We haven't played either game yet, but we'll test them both out and report back on the podcast in the future.
