BitTorrent Sync

Going legit, really.

To coincide with the launch of its new Labs division, BitTorrent has announced BitTorrent Sync, a distributed syncing service now in Pre-Alpha. Like other file syncing services (think Dropbox), BitTorrent Sync will keep selected files synchronized between multiple computers across different platforms, including possibly mobile devices. But unlike Dropbox or Box, your files aren't hosted on any central cloud server--they live on BitTorrent's distributed network. Of course, files are protected using 256-bit AES encryption. If you're interested in trying it out, you can apply to be an Alpha tester here. It definitely felt a little weird giving BitTorrent my personal info to sign up, though. But they're legit now! Really.
