The Universal Law of Urination
Remember that awesome video last year released by researchers at Georgia Tech studying the efficiency of mammals shaking water off their bodies? The same researchers have just released a new study and video revealing a new discovery about mammals, and this time it's about peeing. While filming animals at a local zoo, the researchers noticed that animals of different sizes all took a similar time to urinate--about 21 seconds. As summarized by New Scientist, "their law of urination says that the time a mammal takes to empty a full bladder is proportional to the animal's mass raised to the power of a sixth, meaning even very large changes in mass have little effect on the time." Science!
