I like to use TuneIn Radio Pro for listening to radio - it has a much nicer interface than this app and has an alarm feature. This one seems to take skeumorphism to the point where it sacrifices usability.

TheBeast started the topic Dominion Storage on the Off-Topic board.
After hearing @will's adventures in procuring some Dominion storage solution, I thought I'd share mine and see if anyone else has any novel approaches.I'm using an awesome box from Really Useful Boxes - this 11L one, with the 16 part tray. Conveniently, each tray section is almost the perfect width for a set of cards. I also bag each individual kingdom deck in 3x4" plastic bags to keep them separate ...

@Fripplebubby: Fair point - but seeing as both methods are quite rough anyway, and I'd imagine weighing stuff is going to get super awkward, it might have made more sense to measure with a method that's a bit more convenient.

I want one!Out of interest, why bother weighing things when you could just take the page/step number you're currently on and work out a percentage from that?

It could do with being a lot more polished but this implementation definitely gets the job done.I really hope whoever Rio Grande has implementing the iOS version does a good job, it could be an amazing app if a decent team like Coding Monkeys are doing it, they really raised the bar on the level of quality for iOS game ports with Carcassonne. I'm hoping it's not going to be ...

TheBeast replied to the topic Raspberry Pi running XBMC on the General Discussion board.
There's a video of AirPlay working on one too:I'm very interested in how feasible it would be to use these as a cheap Airport Express alternative, using them to stream music (either over AirPlay or XBMC) to all the rooms around my house.

I could see some fun little uses for it; making it put up an ear when you have new mail, deploy your code when you poke it with an RFID thing, etc., but definitely a gimmick.

This was a great game to pass the time with multiplayer on long train journeys over Christmas. I was very pleasantly surprised at just how well the interface works on such a small screen.A pity you can't get some of the better maps for it though (Europe, Asia, etc.), but for $0.99 it's pretty great value.

Had a play with it earlier and it's a fantastic interpretation of the Flipboard style for smaller screens - the vertical 'flipping' takes a little getting used to after using the iPad version, but it's a really nice way to quickly thumb through interesting stuff.Been having the same server issues since the US started waking up though.

TheBeast replied to the topic Favorite/recommended Nonfiction on the Books board.
Some of my favourites:Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! (Richard Feynman) - A very interesting and amusing read about some of Feynman's various adventures.Freakonomics (Steven Levitt & Stephen Dubner) - A high-level introduction to economics with some interesting and thought-provoking stories. Certainly has it's detractors saying it's misleading, but as a bit of an eye-opener, I can't see a fault with it.Masters of Doom (David Kushner) - The fascinating story of ...

Great stuff, really enjoy these sessions - would be great to have audio versions uploaded so I can listen to them on my phone though.I have to disagree on Seaside though - it's easily one of my favourite Dominion expansions - some of those cards add great variety to the game.

This looks neat, but if there's anything that proves that these tools like the Adobe AIR mobile interpreter are generally terrible, it's that a game this simple can't run on the original iPad when built on it.

TheBeast replied to the topic Dominion (The board game) on the Games board.
@LtSquigs: @will: I find the game starts to get bogged down with 5 - it works decent with 4 but definitely at its best with 2-3 players - much more room for tactical use of cards and easier to manipulate your/your opponents' hands.Having said that, it's probably a different experience if you play with 5 on Isotropic or BGA where it's generally much faster anyway. Can't say I recall much oddities ...

@MackieG: Just pull a random set of cards - every game will play uniquely - some will be really tight because there's only 3 sets of cards that anyone wants, and some will have a few cards that work really well together.I don't think I've ever pulled a bad set - even when playing with people that overuse the Pirate Ship (Seaside expansion) it's hilarious.

This looks really neat - love the idea of toys combined with mobile apps.Is it a US thing to say 'Legos' as the plural of 'Lego'? I've always heard 'Lego' or 'Lego bricks' - the word 'Legos' sounds really odd to me.

I enjoyed Moneyball much more than I expected to. Movies about data are usually pretty boring.

So I totally forgot that FFXII had a "The Story So Far" feature. XIII-2 also has that, and its still a pretty cool idea.
