@Ali_D - which one? The Falcon currently sold is the 7965, which is a nice model and not an easy build in 4 hours. But the one that is the gem of the bunch is the 10179 from 2007. It had 5195 bricks and was a remarkable set. @Monkeyman04 - nice job!

So, did they realize by yet that they messed up the sorting yet? The boxes are numbered, and each box has numbered bags in them. So grouping all the "1"s together is mixing all the pieces together. I've got three boys and we do a lot of Lego building. They aren't old enough for me to justify buying the SSD for them though. Not yet at least. This will ensure ...

I got Otterboxes for my wife and kids. I put Defenders on an iPhone and an iPad, and lesser cases on two iPod Touches. Best money I ever spent. No cases on mine of course.

Considering I bought a Canon T2i 18-55mm kit and got the 55-200mm lens for less than that, yeah I think the price is a bit high.

I’m surprised that we aren’t seeing more 2560x1600 panels, I would expect them to be cheaper than 3840 x 2160 panels to produce. I expect it is just that it is easier to upscale a picture that has 4 pixels for every one pixel on a 1620 x 1080 picture, and most of the patents on good video upscaling are not held by the companies that produce consumer televisions. It ...

Cabling is much less of an issue with digital than it is for analog, and there are separate reasons why you should buy better (not necessarily more expensive) cable. First is physical build quality. Like others have said, some cheap cables can fall apart or just be incorrectly put together. If you have a connection you are going to plug and unplug frequently, you’ll want a solid connection. Buy with ...

You use the same app to send an SMS message and an iMessage, so to the average user it is a seemless thing. Since I only text my wife, it saves me a few bucks a month. I'd gladly take a data only plan and tank my voice plan for a per-minute charge, but the phone companies would scream bloody murder if Apple tried.

@ Scytale – I tip my hat to you, and you kind of make Nest’s point. I have 5 heat zones and 2 AC zones in my house and the most programming we do is to turn the heat and AC on and off at the right time of year. My wife can’t figure out the programming of the wall units and I haven’t had the time to bother since ...

If you've ever had to drive in NYC-area rush hour traffic (6-10AM and 4-8PM)you would spend anything to have self driving cars. And cabs for that matter.

I think the issue is how everyone looks at a TV. If you are thinking of a 1080p TV with iMac or iPad2 innards strapped to the back of it, I agree, no way will something like that work. But what if it is something else entirely? Tim Cook is known for leveraging his supply chain, and where are Apple’s supply chain resources? Not in 1080p monitors, they’re a major ...

I always enjoy reading Loyd. His articles are always clear and his points are always well thought out. I completely agree with the “right tool for the job” approach. I use a PC at work and home, but my wife and kids use an iMac, and we have more iDevices than I care to admit. And like polyorpheus, I’ve found that a can of air, a vacuum, and a fresh ...
