@WaltJay: I preordered a Fire to use as a movie / internet / game device for the couch or bed, but will still use my 3rd gen Kindle to read on. I agree that reading on e-ink is vastly superior to a backlit screen.

I am never going to be in a position at work to have one or two Metro apps be the only thing I need to see. I never run anything but games in fullscreen on my 2560x1600 monitor, why on Earth would I want a Start menu replacement to take up all of that screen real estate?
