@Rallier: Ah, that explains it. I dunno, on the one hand, I feel for ya, but on the other, I suspect the majority of users on the site would prefer 720p. Either way though, it doesn't matter. Clicking the button to change the resolution isn't hard for either side.
That was our reasoning in changing it. We were assuming that most people have the internet connection to support the HQ setting (720), and, as the person working on these videos, it pained me to see our videos default to such a low quality version, and the idea that people were tolerating that low quality version because they didn't think to check the setting.

It is quite silly do this for starters since the actual size of the video is only 402p. So many wasted P's.....
Not quite sure what you mean here. We record in 720p, and Youtube compression setting don't simply down-res and up-res depending on what size you select; in reality you're selecting a setting with different bit rates and quality in regards to the video compression side. (not sure if that's clearly worded, sorry). So even though you're watching a video in a 420p frame on the site, and you select a 420p setting, you're going to see a much lower quality, much (visibly) highly compressed video with horrible artifacts and color depth.
Hope that clears things up.
I'll talk within our group to see if there are any other available options.
@dlnetworks: ah, so its not blowing out your speakers, its that the Foley work on our SFX package isn't crisp enough. Maybe one day we'll buy a new top o the line SFX set. Thanks for your concern.
@dlnetworks: What intro are you referring to, the old one with the little dude on fire logo overcharging, or the newer one with the four blockheads?
I can assure you on the newer intro the heart of the "boom" reaches -12db, with the flame-out/transition noise reaching -4db. The very first "swipe" reaches -3db.
The dialogue and sound effects during the video all have a hard ceiling at -2db (they usually range from around -12db to -2db).
Essentially I never send out videos that clip. If it's a video podcast, it might be worth checking with @will

@mehughes124: Thanks, but I've a LOT of help from @psychospam (Sam Ballard)-- production guy helping us out with shooting and editing. It's been allowing us to get a higher volume out.
@Techngro: think about what exactly? Our cameras shoot in 720, we export to YouTube in 720.
@stenchlord: Audio locks in after about 20 minutes -- new gear for me, so I spent a little time in the beginning tweaking to get things sounding optimal.
@Leekspin: We're using YouTube Live streaming, and as of now they only allow us to stream at 360.
@youngpaddy1: Ha. Naw, he's posing it for the camera so you guys can get a better look. Keep Adam focused on telling some good stories.
WHOOPS! SORRY!
Desmond Llewelyn was my favorite Q. Sadly, he died in a car accident a little while after shooting The World is Not Enough, but not before delivering one the best exit scenes.
@seanbooker: Yeah, totally -- but It's not really supposed to be some kind of record breaker, just a fun way to raise money for charity. Like a walk-a-thon or something.
Octoberkast! Friday the 26th! Saturday the 27th! 1000 Push-Ups! Tested Studio Control Room!
During the course of the 24-hour Octoberkast, I'll be doing a push-up challenge to help raise money for Child's Play Charity. My goal is to do 1000 push-ups through the course of the show, that you, the viewer, can follow along with. I'll have a "Push-Up Cam" rolling in the control room, with a fancy tally counter that will keep an honest track of my performance.
I'm not certain I can do this. It all sounds a bit crazy to me, and my guns ain't what they used to be. But I will give it everything I got if you pledge for me!

@Dubl*A: Ah yeah, those John Carpenter and Kurt Russell ones are soooo good! I'd throw the Big Trouble in Little China in there as well.
And again, agree on the Edgar Wright commentaries (all them including the Scott Pilgrim track with him and I believe either the DP or the editor)
@falco_eagle: Thank you sir -- on it!
