General Discussion » A matter that needs to be settled for the endurance test...

I say it's "Legos" when referring to multiple bricks as in: "All of my Legos just fell on the floor!" The collective "Lego" can be used when referring to a group of or set of Lego as a single concept as in "I need more Lego" or "I really enjoy building Lego."

PC and Mac » Slow Steam downloads

Hey all. I just upgraded my home internet to a fiber optic network through coaxial. I get about 14 to 15 mb down on programs like Amazon Unbox video. So I know that I'm getting at least this usable bandwidth coming in. But my steam download speeds top out at about 2.5 mb/s. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? Does steam not take advantage of all of the bandwidth available? Thanks!

General Discussion » Monitor trouble

@Mirado: Through the Nvidia control panel, I was able to force it to scale to the monitor by lowering the resolution. But I don't really want a 1920x1080 monitor that has to display at like 1800x1000 as it happened to turn out.

General Discussion » Monitor trouble

I just bought a new monitor. The Viewsonic  vx2253mh-led. I plugged it in via HDMI into my GeForce Gtx 460. I set the resolution to 1920x1080, which is ostensibly the native resolution. When I did this, the colors immediately became washed out, but more importantly, the screen didn't seem to resize to fit the monitor properly. I can only describe it as being zoomed in so that the edges of the screen didn't fit into the viewable area of the monitor. I have no idea what the issue is. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

PC and Mac » Christmas time means video cards!

It's that time of year, and I'm looking to beg for a new video card! I'm looking at a budget somewhere around $100-150. What card should give me the best bang for my buck? many thanks!

General Discussion » Desktop organization

Now I'm not very clever when it comes to computers, so please bear with me. Here are pictures of a couple of desktops.

Both appear to have Vista. I'd really like to organize my icons into some slick toolbars like they have, but I don't know how. I did manage to make a really crappy looking toolbar by dragging a folder to the top of the screen, but nothing nearly as nice as theirs. Does anyone know how they made them?
 Thanks in advance!
