Bowlby (Level 1)

Played the Syndicate demo. The HUD is larger than the space you use to see people shooting at you. That's wrong.

Bug Reporting » Social network intergration slowing the site down

Rock Paper Shotgun is also using the same plugins which are causing the problem. Does anyone know of a Chrome Extension to disable these things?

Bug Reporting » Social network intergration slowing the site down

The social networking stuff is murdering my browser. I've just disabled it and the site is now loading at a bearable rate. Before, it was causing massive hitching, and I even thought that my Internet connection was the problem. This really ought to be fixed.

Running Chrome 13.0.782.220 m

Windows 7 64 bit

PC and Mac » Media Center will be back in Windows 8

Wouldn't mind seeing media center with a better UI for mouse and keyboard and better integration with Xbox 360/Xbox 3. It's pretty slow and crappy at the moment.

General Discussion » By the time the first Honeycomb tablets are out...

Will Android be too late to the market?

iPad 2 is coming March/April this year. In comparison, the first honeycomb enabled tablets will probably arrive late this year or early next year. By that time, Google will be playing a game of catch-up, as mentioned in the recent podcast. Question is, does Apple have the momentum to pull away completely and do what it did with the mp3 player market (i.e., monopolise the fuck out of it)?

I think that if the next Honeycomb tablets don't immediately offer some sort of significant tangible benefit or better value, this may well be the case. I hope not, though.

What do you guys think?

Phones » Android, Windows Mobile 7 or stick with iOS?

I think the thing with Windows Phone 7 is that they've already gone to the effort of completely revamping their OS, they recognise the significance of the smartphone market, and so it's one of those areas where they cannot afford to bow out of. I'd say it's similar to how they steamrolled in with the original Xbox, taking a massive early loss for the chance to grab a large slice of a fast growing, highly lucrative market. This makes me hopeful for Win Pho 7's chances of success, and I feel it does occupy a really nice niche between Android and iOS.

Phones » Android, Windows Mobile 7 or stick with iOS?

HTC Desire HD is a good Android phone, from what I've heard. Buy the Nexus S, though, if you want the "pure" Android experience. I'm currently on the HTC Desire, and although their OS skin is decent, I'd prefer stock Android. From experience, HTC do send OTA updates fairly often, so you probably won't be in the situation Galaxy S owners found themselves in. The one thing about Android that you'll miss from iOS and Win Pho 7, apart from the differences in the UI, is that there is no decent stock multimedia player. The Winamp app is in beta, and is okay, but it's not an integrated experience with the OS. In fact, that's the bigger difference: the integration between apps and OS in Android is less consistent.

IMO, stick with Android and the Desire HD or Nexus S. I really like the Win Pho 7 UI, I think it's nicer than Android, but the OS is a first-gen product, and I think that it's worth waiting for a clear winner in hardware to appear and the OS to smooth out. This is your best bet, I feel.

Great idea. But I'm not sure what's going to happen, since my user name here is Bowlby and it's SunKing on GB. :S
