What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend's upon us, and like any good nerds, we're spending the last days of summer holed up in our houses playing board and video games. What are you playing this weekend?

The weekend's upon us, and like good nerds, we're spending the last days of summer holed up in our houses playing board and video games. I spent some time this morning playing the excellent Ticket to Ride: Marklin edition. Although I've played a fair amount of the USA edition of Ticket to Ride, it wasn't one of my favorite games. Unless you add the 1910 expansion, it lacks the depth that I look for.

Have you guys played Ticket editions, or have another favorite board game you'd recommend?

What about video games? My time this week has been pretty evenly split between Starcraft 2, Monday Night Combat, and QuakeWorld (Rocket Arena, naturally). Since Bomb did Quake during TNT, Quake fever has swept Whiskey. In addition to the QW servers we set up for TNT, Ryan's running a Quake 2 server, and I keep catching the Top Men muttering about how technically superior the Unreal engine is to idTech.

But, enough about me. What are you playing this weekend?

I actually played a game of monopoly last night, as par usual it didn't end due to half the players asking to be bailed out by the bank, then the bank had no money when we passed go so the game fell apart. Typical monopoly really.

Mostly Demon's Souls and StarCraft.

I will be playing just the best board game ever: Cosmic Encounter (Fantasy Flight's edition). I'll also be playing the obligatory game of Battle Line.

Also, Ticket to Ride: Europe is obviously the best version of the game. :D

I'll be playing more StarCraft II, trying to wriggle my way out of the Bronze league. Played a couple of games today, one lasting over 40 minutes. I love it when that happens, so I have time to make serious money and spam Vikings out of a bunch of reactored-Starports. I ended up winning due to said Viking spammage

Bought Puzzle Quest 2 on some bizarre whim last night, and instantly regretted it. If anyone can convince me to keep playing I'm all ears.

Also been going back to play RavenShield over the past few weeks, which surprisingly still has a number of active servers online. Unfortunately most of the servers are North or South American, so my ping is crap, and they're relatively empty to boot. Truly was the best online FPS I've ever played, but our clan's server is long gone (as is the clan), so I can no longer wreak leet pwnage havoc every night like I used to :(

Since going back to RVS, I've considered reinstalling CoD4. It's the closest a game has come to the atmosphere of RVS (though not really close at all), with decent maps and servers. It's been a while since I wreaked the aforementioned leet pwnage havoc on there as well!

As for board games... I played Scrabble a couple days ago if that counts?

I was continuing my weekly Tf2 sessions.  Basically anytime there's a podcast released, my friend and I hop onto my dedicated server and we listen to the podcast at the same time.  We connect through steam voice chat and laugh at the jokes together.  Usually means I get in 4-6 hours of tf2 a week for those item drops.

Minecraft is what I have been playing for over a week now. Crazy addicting fun!

Had a crazy SC2 3v3 match. Battlecruiser spam

Saturday just turned into Sunday here. Today I'm having my birthday party, so no more gaming this weekend. On Monday I'm going to buy an HDTV and I'll go back to Heavy Rain, this time with the ability to read the text and symbols on the screen.

I spent a fair few hours of Saturday playing Rock Band.
Daggityon Aug. 28, 2010 at 3:16 p.m.
Starcraft 2, TF2, and maybe some Dragon Age.
Nimeon Aug. 28, 2010 at 3:20 p.m.
Equal amounts Team Fortress 2 and StarCraft 2. Just did my 1v1 placement matches and got into Platinum which is laughably wrong, so now I'm afraid to play it. (I probably belong in silver, maybe gold, but got some lucky matches during the placement)

Starcraft, and built my first PC following the $1500 gaming PC video.

I'm playing the "wait all bank holiday weekend for my computer to arrive at the door and before that sit in silence being bored" game. As soon as I do get my PC however I'll be playing TF2.

@intoblivion: Get the Monopoly with the credit cards, as I assume that means endless moneys (you goddamn hoarder).
Vageron Aug. 28, 2010 at 3:40 p.m.
Probably some Starcraft and Quake 2.
I would definitely be lurking around the QuakeWorld RA server again waiting for people to join in.
Though the server needs to come back up for that to happen!!
I did so well against everyone who showed up.
Then Norm join and I got my ass handed to me.

@will For board games it is hard to beat Carcassone, especially with a couple of good expansions like Rivers 2 and Inns & Cathedrals. The game is so addictive, it's available on the iPhone now as the basic tile set but you still can't beat playing the real thing!
Rehehellyon Aug. 28, 2010 at 3:54 p.m.
Minecraft.
Yasihikoon Aug. 28, 2010 at 4:10 p.m.
Played some classic Metal Gear Online.  It's actually quite good even still after 2 years.
Evelgeston Aug. 28, 2010 at 4:13 p.m.
Recently, I've been playing Dragon Quest IX on my DSi and WordFeud for my Droid X. I'll probably play a little Starcraft 2 and Super Street Fighter 4.

I'm doing another run-through of Nier on the 360, that game has one of the most soul destroying back halves I have ever played.
