Panasonic Expected to Announce Consumer 3D Camcorder

Panasonic is getting ready to unveil a consumer-level, stereoscopic 3D camcorder, and details are already starting to leak out. The official announcement will be on July 28, but it looks like this new model will be called the HDC-SDT750. Panasonic has yet to release any technical specifics, but according to a picture of the camcorder recently posted on Panasonic's web site, it appears that the SDT750 is essentially a standard Panasonic camcorder with a large 3D conversion lens attachment.

According to Engadget's analysis of the site's so-far-unactivated source code regarding the SDT750, it's capable of shooting 1080p video at 60 fps in AVCHD format, and will feature Panasonic's Hybrid O.I.S. image stabilization. Engadget also speculates that the camcorder is a 3D-lens-equipped version of the HDC-HS700. We should find out more on Wednesday, when Panasonic is expected to officially announce the camcorder. What are you thoughts on consumer-grade 3D cameras?

Interesting, but I'm waiting to see the price point before I believe its "consumer-grade".

Hrmm this will defintaley be something interesting to take a look at.  I just wonder how much this is going to cost.  The 3D TV"s are really just making there push out into the public now and they are not cheap... they will cost a ya pretty penny.  Plus the glasses you have to buy separately.

This will def has some potential to a cool toy to have, but still a little skeptical of how main stream this will really become.  Plus the 3DS making its debut as well.

3d sex tapes. FINALLY!
TooWalruson July 27, 2010 at 7:12 a.m.
Well I think that 3D sex tapes are definitly an appealing idea...

We still need 3D TV's to watch this stuff, right? And those are expensive right now, so by the time the price on them drops, the price of a 3D camcorder will have gone down too. I'm not going to spend any money on 3D for a few years, at least.

We'd still need 3D glasses to review them, as well as monitors capable of presenting 3D movies. It'd probably cost a lot more money than just taking 2D movies. This may be a start, but it's going to be a long time before something like this is anything short of a luxury.
