Mind-Controlled Rock Concert Light Show
With the help of neuroscientists at UCSF and computer graphics engineers at Nvidia, Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and his new band, Superorganism, are experimenting with performance visualizations using EEG data. For the shows in his latest tour, Hart dons a wired EEG cap on stage while a computer reads his brain's electrical signals and converts them into light effects. A CG visualization of Hart's brain also appears behind the band while they jam. It's a little gimmicky, but Hart seems to have a genuine interest in the intersection of music and brain science.
