I Found Out What Turned Me Off The Cast, I Am Sorries

  • Bros (and...Tested got female users?),

I found out what turns me off on the cast, and I realized it's not just Tested.com.  It's when people on Technology podcasts go into detail about video game stuff that pisses me off and makes me turn it off.  It's like going to a movie podcast and out of no where they end up spending half an hour talking about some random game they are playing.

Tech News Today ended up spending time talking about video games and I just turned it off then and went back to watching MSNBC.

Is it bad that I expect just tech news and not gaming news on these types of casts?  >.>

Anyways, I listened to this week's episode and it was what I look for in a tech geared cast.  Also learned about Comcast Online On Demand, which I am using right now on Campus.

Thats all, just wanted to say sorry if I came off like a prick who dresses up as a Taliban at a Soldier's funeral, which is really bad.

    Also, Bitches and Whores.  >:}
  • @KaosAngel:
Gaming is Technology I dont think it would actualy be a technology cast if they didnt touch on the subject.
  • That's exactly how I feel when anyone talks about anything that's not Team Fortress 2.
  • @lane:
Lane get with times its all about Solo Bunker 1 now
  • @cripplecaptain:

Funny you should mention that, I started playing Fallout: New Vegas last night and frankly I'm concerned about the future of my personal hygiene.
  • It's always good to touch on any subject with Tech.  I like Tested's podcast's just for the fact is its never the same thing every week.

I have been debating with myself if I should buy Fallout New Vegas just for the fact of BO coming out soon.  Is it well worth the price tag?
  • @GTFShadow:

I dunno. I like it. I'm only a few hours in so I'm not sure I've had enough time to get tired of it yet.
  • @GTFShadow:  If you liked Fallout 3, then you'll love it. It you don't have patience for buggy games, might want to avoid it for a while. And I'd say definitely get it on PC over console, the Fallout experience is way better in the long run.
  • No Fallout : New Vegas until I finish my dinner of Vanquish, Borderlands, a shit ton of DLC, and Dead Rising 2.
    So probably not till January.
I'm visiting my folks this XMas so I can't bring my 360 with me less my wife murder me and hide my body till the spring thaw.
  • The irony is so fucking thick in this thread, and i'm eating it up.

So how 'bout Fable III, huh?
  • @Fripplebubby: Despite the level of irony I am actually interested to hear any opinions on fable 3 from my fellow testees. Haven't played the other fable's but was considering picking it up.

Also on topic, games are an integral part of technology but more to the point, half the reason I listen to podcasts is for the people on them. The guys are at whiskey are genuinely interesting to so I don't mind if they ever go a little off topic once in a while if its entertaining.
  • I agree, I would like even more gaming talk in future podcasts.

If you are going to buy it, please I implore you to get it on PC. I'm not sure if it's a better version in any sense, but I just want to prove to Lionhead (and whoever publishes them... Microsoft I think) that they should keep making PC games, even if they are pretty much Xbox ports. Fable 2 never had a PC release, and i'm thrilled that they reversed that for 3, so I just want to give them reason to keep doing that.
  • ... I never realized (if they do) that they talk about Video Games often...

     Huh...
  • Well, if you aren't a gamer then I can see why this would piss you off.  I love gaming, therefore I love when they go off topic and discuss them, personally.
  • why...... WHY!!!!!!!! sooo many resurections ;_;
  • They should do more podcast switching if they are interested in talking about games. But as long as it doesn't take more than 5 minutes I'm usually fine with it. Or if it's about PC Gaming in general.
  • The best bits are always when they go off topic.  This weeks was so funny and they hardly talked about tech at all lol
  • @cripplecaptain:  Doesn't anyone check dates anymore? How deep do you have to dig to pull up a nearly half-year old post? I know we say it's better to add to a thread then make a new one, but there's a fine line...and I think over 5 months is it. I'm totally with you: necros have to stop.

I didn't realize the post was so old.  No, I didn't read the date, and I never, ever understood this idea of not commenting on old posts, as long as they are still relevant.

How many Google searches have you done where you found a really old post where someone has the exact same problem as you, but there is no answer?  Happens to me constantly and I hate it.  There's a reason Stack Overflow has a Necromancer badge.
  • @cowgod:  First off, I don't mean to single you out. I've just seen it more and more lately and it's starting to bug me. But secondly, your reasoning doesn't apply. This discussion ran its course. There was no hanging unanswered questions and no new information has come to light. If you have some new piece of information that can solve an unanswered question or a relevant viewpoint that hasn't been discussed, then fine. But all you did was restate what others have said...so why bother?

Hell, the OP hasn't posted here in a month. I don't think he was waiting on this topic.
  • Like mirado I didnt mean @cowgod specificaly either I just know I have had some of my threads resurected and seen a number of others on here that were likely better off burried deep down history lane. And finaly had to comment on the growing trend.
  •  Okay, I'll be sure to check dates in the future, but to be perfectly honest...

...I didn't have to dig far at all.  I was looking in the "This is Only a Test" subforum and the first page has posts that go back over a year.
  • @cowgod:  Oh. I only ever use the newest topics section, so that's where I was coming from.

    We all hate that.

Yup. Half the games are graphics and console.

I mean, take a look at Crysis. That game was all about the tech.

  • Portal is a very techie-oriented game, a game for people into science and tech, a game about science and tech, an innovative game, a game that PC builders built their shit for, and a favorite game of basically all of W.A.N.G. so it makes sense for them to talk about it. Portal discussion was everywhere, Jeff Gerstmann from sister-site giantbomb went on NPR to talk about it. I imagine someone else got ticked about some vid'ja game news interrupting his PHC. Switching away from a podcast after just a few missfire episodes can't help.
