Go some way towards fixing AirPlay on the iPad/iPhone to ATV

  • Removed, as it shows a work-around for a subscriber feature....
  • Ok, I got a tweet from @enemykite, AirPlay support is going to be exclusive to subscribers.  So to airplay video to your Apple TV, you must be a subscriber and logged into the mobile site @ m.tested.com

Once logged into the mobile site, a good tip is to change the video quality on the mobile site to "H" because i think it defaults as "L".  You can see the toggle for this in the right hand corner of the Mobile Site's video hub page.  It's a little confusing as it seems that when the "H" button is depressed, it is actually in "L" low quality mode, so make sure the "L" button is depressed to get "H" high quality video.   If that makes sense? "H" quality video seems to be the same quality video that plays by default when browsing the normal site with an iPad.

It would be cool if logging in as a subscriber added the  x-webkit-airplay="allow"  tag to the normal site's videos, because that is a lot nicer on the iPad.
  • aha, I would have never found that setting, as I always just view the front-page vids when surfing from iPad. I never would have found that. The "H" Video is just what I wanted, without the hassle of the bookmarklet.

I've removed the link, as I never knew that airplay was supposed to be a subscriber feature.

  • Yeah its annoying that Apple doesn't allow AirPlay video by default, because then as a subscriber you could AirPlay the HD version which is provided by the Download options.

I guess Apple wants to give websites control over what gets airplayed. Yet another example of the gIft and the curse of the iOS platform.
