This site is recommended in their "Sound Byte" on "what questions should I ask when buying a computer.

They also claim pre-installed software (such as standard crapware) is a reason to buy brand name PCs from Dell/HP/Gateway/etc.

    lol

  • The subtext under their links to a "computer worksheet" kills me:

(Thanks to Deb and Judy for providing the Word version)

Oh lord. Does it come with a 56K modem or 6 months of free (presumably AO-Hell) internet? Some site is in desperate need of an update.

  • If you think this is 2005 you should head over to QVC some time. Or that commercial that talks about getting one for easy payments and boasts you get a software upgrade to Microsoft Office Starter 2010!

  • @JustinNotJason i thought it was funny that they link to something that hasn't been updated since 2005.
  • They're the same company who made a site/quiz thingy I had to use for a sociology class a year and a bit ago (It was another My*classhere*Lab). The quizzes we had to do on that site only worked on IE 6-8. No Firefox, Chrome, Safari (sorry Mac users. I had to use my Windows desktop to do the quizzes. It literally would not work on any browser on my Mac.), Opera and the list goes on. I was kind of shocked that they made people pay for that. Hopefully it's been updated because that was awful.

Also, that Sales Speak 101 section is priceless. 17" TFT monitor for $400. Or the mention of CRTs in general.

  • @Ben_H it now works with ie9 and safari 5, at least for the IT one.

I dunno how much it costs since it was bundled with in the $99 book pack my professor got made, as department head he cut a deal with the publisher apparently.

I think only part of it works in OSX , which is insane in this day and age
