I want to know how to record a phone conversation.

I suspect that my dad is being unfaithful. I over heard some stuff and my sister just let me know that she also heard some stuff and that he is acting weird. I would like to be able to confront him with some evidence. If possible, I like to be able to record from a land line and cell phone.

Welp, that's illegal as shit so I wouldn't expect to get a whole lot of help around here.

I'd like to help you, I really would, but unfortunately that's one of those things that you'll have to figure out on your own, or somewhere other than here. I can say that on a land line, you could just plug in another phone to participate in the conversation (nothing about recording).

Confront him without any evidence. Or lie you do have evidence. Home espionage isn't the solution.

Do you live in the house? are you grown up? do you pay any phone bills?

I would say if your dad is remotely like you, I would not be surprised. What is it with most of your contributions being the equivalent of a /s/ thread on 4chan? I'm aware it's not relevant to the topic but your requests borderlines on illegal to begin with.

Actually, in many states it's legal to record a phone conversation as long as one of the parties on the line is aware of it. Otherwise it constitutes wiretapping and needs a warrant. But laws do vary on a state and city level. Do some research, I'm sure it's out there.

@litrock:

I don't think OP intends to inform either his father or his father's mistress.

@lane: Well, he wasn't entirely clear how he was going to go about recording the conversation. I was just saying that recording calls isn't technically illegal in certain situations. Droppin' facts. But yes, I agree that the OP probably isn't going that route. It's difficult, considering how frustrating the OPs situation must be. I just hope they don't do anything too desperate.
