It would seem I have a virus on my computer, it pops up random tabs in my browser without my permission, puts ads on the top of the page I am in regardless of what site (I first recognized it on YouTube, there was a fucking webcam girls site ad showing up at the top of the browser above the search bar and YouTube logo, it has worked like that no matter what site I've been on, even here on Tested, as well as eBay, Giantbomb, etc. you name it) and fake 'warning' messages keep popping up about once an hour (I know they're fake because they're saying dumb shit like 'hot babes in 'insert name of place I live'), I can't even begin to understand what might have caused this, I have Norton Internet Security and I'm running Adblocker Plus, I also have Windows 7 and am using the latest version of Firefox, WHAT DO I DO OH GOD????

I would check out the webgirls, they sound pretty legit.

Just kidding, run MalwareBytes (that's what it's called, right?) or scan your computer, or reinstall Firefox, or switch to Chrome (oops, fanboyism). And btw, it isn't always your fault. Ads are shitty, and people who make these malware contraptions are smart. Don't beat yourself up about it.

That was one of the videos there, good shit.

But in all seriousness, MalwareBytes got rid of the virus.

@Rehehelly: yeah, but you missed the part where they cleaned up their act in the 2009 version, and the 2009 and 2010 versions are actually purchase-worthy.

@MAGZine: I see, I see. Not really been keeping up to date on it, I use just AVG.

@Rehehelly: and just fyi - the product quality of AVG has really decreased over the years. Avast! I believe is the new free-favourite.

from past experiences norton just slows my computer down and provides little protection for that all with a yearly fee on top. Try microsoft security essentials, run a scan and it should pick it up.
