Anytime I put a file onto and an empty CD or DVD, and then later delete that file, the space that the file consumed does not return , can someone tell me the problem, and how to fix this?

As you can see, there is no file  on the disc, but it still says that the space that a former file used is still used.

If you are using a certain type of CD or DVD they cannot be rewritten properly. Cd's/DVD's don't work like flash drives, for the most part.

I'm guessing you are using non rewriteable discs, in which case what you are finding is what is expected to happen due to the disc not being able to rewrite.

If you want to be able to write and rewrite (a limited amount of times) then get rewriteable disc or even better use a flash drive if applicable.
