I never realized how limited the iPhone was on 3G...

...until I moved to an Android phone.

Looking back, the number of things you couldn't do over 3G on an iPhone was insane. I always thought the fact that I had to be connected to wifi to download a podcast was an AT&T limitation until I installed Doggcatcher on my Captivate and watched it start magically pulling them down from the ether. (To be fair, it could still be a carrier restriction, since the iPhone comprises the vast majority of data traffic on their network.) Either way, I'm still pleased as punch, even if I did get my unlimited data plan yanked just as I'm finally able to fully utilize it.

I don't have to be connected to a WiFi to download a podcast, so it's probably an ATT limitation...

Gotta get my3g or 3gUnrestrictor to really take advantage of 3G on an iphone.

I'd still rather download a podcast via WiFi as it's bloody fast. Unless of course i'm getting an HSDPA connection in the wild but I don't like wasting my data usage, I only get 1GB.

I can d/l podcasts fine over 3G too on my iPhone, even relatively large ones.  I think it probably is an AT&T thing.

I think it's dependent on the size of the file as to whether you can download over 3g or not. I know I listen to podcasts over 3g all the time, not necessarily download them, but I cannot download apps over 20mb if I'm not on WiFi.
