What Email Client Do You Use?

  • I currently use the Gmail web interface for accessing my email, but am thinking about starting to use a dedicated client. So Windows users, what email client do you use? Or, do you use the web site as I am.

  • I use both Outlook and Thunderbird. Outlook for work and Thunderbird for personal.

  • Looksy here?

  • Thunderbird all the way.

  • Windows Live Mail for personal, Outlook Web for work.

  • Outlook for work and GMail for personal.

  • Outlook 2010

  • @Greg818: didnt see that thread

  • I have Thunderbird installed, but I never use it. I just use the GMail web interface.

  • I use Sparrow Lite for my personal email and I use Outlook for a work email that I need to sync shit with exchange on.

  • Sparrow

  • I use Windows Live Mail just because Thunderbird won't work with Hotmail accounts, which I use for less-important emails. I also use the GMail web interface for that.

  • I've been using postbox lately, after Ryan Davis tweeted about it. Been enjoying it.

  • Windows Live Mail on Windows 7

    Windows Mail on Windows 8

hotmail.com for checking hotmail email at work

    Lotus Notes for Work

    All for me.

  • Ive used hotmail since that started as my junk and default email. Gmail for personal, and outlook for work. Im sure I have a yahoo and aol email account out there somewhere also.

  • I use Thunderbird.

  • Thunderbird is extremely slow and annoying whenever I've used it. I don't know why but it's just so glacially slow. Outlook is a steaming pile of garbage and I wouldn't use it if I were paid to. For either personal or work use, it's simply awful all the way around. I've tried looking for clients since I use iCloud for my mail and I've yet to find one that works reliably and quickly.

  • I have google talk installed (I think that's what it's called) but all it does is notify me of emails, which I then look at in the browser.I'm always in my browser, so I don't really need to have a different application open for checking email.

  • I thought Thunderbird sucked a lot (especially with hotmail, which is my primary e-mail). Windows Live Mail sucks less and does okay with hotmail so thats why I use it on Windows 7. Windows Mail is my favorite, but it doesn't work with my business e-mail. It only works with several services (Can't give Windows 8 too much grief because it's not a real thing yet)

  • In my experience, Thunderbird is fine unless you're using it to deal with large IMAP folders. In which case, it drags like a puppy's ass on the carpet.

I use it mainly because it's the only decent client available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and I need to move my filter settings between different environments.

  • @frytup: Postbox is a pretty decent alternative, i've been using it for the past month and it's worked great, but the thing is, after that first month you have to pay about 30 bucks for it

  • Hmm had Hotmail since it started now used for junk mail and anything that needs a email add. Gmail for personal as it works so well on my mobile (cell phone for you yanks :-) out there )

    No Linux, unfortunately.

  • For work the answer is easy, what ever they pay me to use. Generally since most companies run exchange servers that answer is Outlook.

For personal use I no longer have a need to use a client since email capacity on-line has grown so large and include several filtering tools. If something ever changed and I were to need a client again then I would use Thunderbird.
