I'm currently running two monster Asus GTX 570 Direct CU IIs in SLI (which seemed like a good idea at the time) and the top card runs anywhere between 75-85 deg Celsius while gaming. These numbers feel high to me but I don't want to crank the fans speeds higher due to the noise. Do you guys have any tips on how to keep the temps lower (would case fans help?) or am I cursed to have a turbine going when I game?
My rig right now has:
Intel Core™ i5-2500K
Asus P8P67 PRO Rev 3.0
Corsair Graphite Series 600T Mid Tower, Special Edition White
I have a EVGA GTX 570 and I get similar temperatures. I use EVGA Precision to automatically adjust fan speeds to go higher in case the temperature gets higher. (i.e : Fans at 70% if temperature is at 70 Celsius). It's a bit noisier but I get around 68-72 Celsius when gaming. Its all fine. I'd say that you start worrying when temperatures get higher than 90 Celsius. Those cards are made to go up to 100 Celsius.
Like I said, those temperatures are fine but I'd suggest setting up a fan profile with RivaTuner or EVGA Precision to speed the fans up in case of heavy GPU load. Also, case fans would help a bit.
Why worry about fan noise when you're gaming and way less likely to notice it? But as others have said, those temps are fine. Also, your top card is going to run hotter due to the proximity of the bottom card.
@JusticeJanitor: Fans at 70%? Before I went SLI I never heard my fans and I never saw anything above 60 deg or so when I added the second card, my top card started to hit 85 degs and my computer started crashing randomly I was definitely alarmed. I've updated my graphics drivers since then and I'll try setting up a fan profile and see if I notice the fan noise.

Without headphones, that noise is really obvious a lot of the time, with poor cooling systems especially. I have a single 5770 and that mother fucker is looooooooooud.
Okay. I've installed the beta drivers NVidia released last April, made the bottom card the primary video card, put a little plastic nub between the cards to get a bit of extra room, installed a 120mm fan pointed directly at the two cards and cranked all the case fans to max, and set up a fan profile with GPU tweak. Played Batman Arkam City with everything maxed for around an hour watching the temps using play claw and I didn't see anything over 60 deg. Now I'm concerned that my temperature sensors are lying to me :D

Thanks!
@eug: Unless the GTX 6xx series have unusually low tolerance for heat, those temperatures are completely fine for a GPU. Don't worry about it.

EDIT : I'm using a single card, no SLI.

@eug: The reason for higher temps is because you added a second card which draws more power and adds more heat the temps are fine don't worry too much
