So a few days ago I started getting a problem with my mouse ( a razer deathadder 3500) where every few seconds it will freeze the pointer for a slight moment (like a hiccup) but it is not like my whole pc freezes up at those moments it is just the mouse. Besides that it will often not recognize a mouse click either requiring me to click again. As you may understand this all very frustrating when playing games, especially multiplayer ones.
The mouse in question is little under a year old and only started giving me this problem a few days ago (didn't change anything significant), I did already tried re installing the driver but to no avail. On the other hand a quick google told me this also isnt one of those problems that a whole lot of people have with their deathadder.
So before I plunge and buy a new mouse I was wondering if maybe anyone here would know my problem and maybe even a fix for it?
Edit: Forgot to mention that I also plugged in another mouse to check if it had the same problem but it didnt appear to be plagued by this issue, thus my assumption it is the mouse and not my pc.
For the stuttering, check for hair/dust by the sensor. Had this happen to a Logitech MX518 (greatest mouse in the world). It was just a sliver of hair by the sensor. (the sensor is recessed into the mouse a ways).
Does your mouse still click? Or does the button sink? I had the sinking with the MX518 and found it pretty hard to take it apart without warping/bending anything. Got it eventually though and now haven't had any problems with it since. Had the mouse for about 6 years.
Well you already tried the re-installing of drivers which would have been my first step. (I am assuming it's the latest driver too). Like above try clearing out the sensor under mouse for anything that might cause this hiccup.
Have you tried a different USB port also? Sounds dumb, but who knows.
Are you using the software that came with the mouse also? I know razr has that software you can setup the mouse with for different settings.
Tried what you said, cleaned the sensor with some pressured air and took the mouse apart to check the actuators on the mouse buttons but those are still very much clicky.
So it truly seems razer is holding up to their one year of usage reputation here...
@JoMate: Then what you need to do is write to Razr. You will write them a good cop bad cop email.... they will never see it coming! Demand a new mouse free of charge!
I am trying to think of other things you can do. I am trying my damndest!
I had the same issue when I had a Razer Mamba, after the software was deleted I stopped having the issue. Mamba has onboard memory so I didn't need anything installed on the PC, not sure if the Deathadder is the same.
Got the same mouse, on the iMac, but before it got mainstream. (LOL!!) Anyway, like pretty much EVERY "fancy" mouse, it showcases the lack of reflexion and testing and experience and... during the design phase, i.e. it has a sticker very close to the sensor's lens, and all around it, so it gathers tiny hair, and ends up acting like a rob bit on meth.
The (Microsoft) Habu I had, that is basically the same hardware, had the same ring around the sensor, I just removed the sticker and used a Q-tip dipped in acetone to remove the remaining glue, Went great, though, can't recommend it for the Deathadder as I haven't tested it, and don't know if it's the same plastic.
Best way to clean it is to use electrical tape (not the cheap stuff that leaves half its glue behind!), stick it under the mouse just like for a prank, and peel...
You should be good for at least three months.
Now for the click detection, it looks a lot like rebound suppression (too short click doesn't register) or lag (basically... same thing). Is it in a VM? I have the same exact problem with Win7 VMs on the mac when playing game (only in games, so I guess I should say, used to have), because of the lag... never experienced it in normal use though, and never experienced it in OSX, being during games or other softs.
If you're running Win, did you restart the computer between the uninstall/re-install? That seems to be very important with anything Microsoft.
But actually, first things first: did you try contacting them? (using whatever region you deem to be the closest fit)

Well this at least fixed my problems so thanks, now though I will still need a new mouse cause I want my macros.

Haha I'm from europe so stuff like that wont work here, nice try though.
Not sure what the warranty info is for this piece of tech but dont most pieces have a 1 year limited warranty? Even so i would write them an email asking for a replacement/free repair if no other solutions are found. The way I have worded it in the past consisted of how much i love their products and would love to have a good reason to purchase one in the future.
I had this issue with my Death Adder, it wasn't every few seconds, more like every minute or so, but it was frequent enough to annoy me, especially when I was in the middle of a game of Starcraft or something. I did eventually figure out that it seemed to be the software so I just used the mouse without it. I've read of other cases of both of our situations happening, so it doesn't seem too rare.
As for the Razer one year usage quip, I think it's dead accurate (other than their mousepads. They make great mousepads). The right click on my Death Adder started going after a little over a year. It still worked, it just felt like it required way more pressure than the left click. So I promptly purchased a G9x and used that until recently when I switched to the good ol' G1 and haven't looked back.
@JoMate: I have a Deathadder mouse that started acting wonky. It was double clicking and not clicking at all. I updated the firmware on the mouse and problems have been solved.
Ha, that has indeed been ages. But if your hinting at another run on live'ing were out of luck... First of my gold ran out 2 months ago, secondly my xbox now resides at a friends house (temporary) and lastly I am currently in the states for another month.
And that last thing will probably also make getting a new mouse kind of hard right now, but I shall try anyways!
@JoMate: Let me know how ya make out with calling support or working with there support. I have never had any issues or needed to work with them so I am unsure of how they work.
But if you XBL up and running again let me know. Been playing some MW3.
My Mamba was perfectly fine without software installed but if you require it for macros then that will be an issue. I'd be inclined to say that you'll get the same response as me, which is to say, they'll blame it as user error and not honor the warranty.

@GTFShadow:
Yup, yup and sadly yup.

Remove Razer software entirely off the PC.

I emailed Razer when I had issues, they said due to it being a software issue the problem was likely user error and not covered :/
I change mouse every couple months though for shits and giggles so didn't bother me so much.

I know you are from Europe :). We haven't played xbox live together in awhile.
