I'm looking at getting a Gigabyte X79 G1 Assassin 2 for my new machine after a recommendation (and offer of some funds as a birthday present ;) from a trusted relative. But I know a swath of their new boards were recalled late 2011 with overheating problems, so I want to make sure they're at least as stable as the other high-end boards now before buying...
Did they recall all of the boards from retail and re-issue under a new code or anything like that, or was it just a recall that individual consumers could opt into if they wanted to, plus a BIOS update to download or something?
