This trailer gave me goose bumps.  I heard about it on one of Leo Laporte's shoes, Net @ Nite.

This is interesting to me, because I always tell people "I only use my powers for good, never for evil".

I actually believe this country needs to embrace people like these and form a geek army to fight evil.

That is quite interesting. This is someone I would like to watch. I need to find this somewhere. :p

That's an awesome find!  If only I could hack or was able to program pretty well.  Need to study these kinds of things to better understand it.

@MonkeyGekko:
According to Leo Laporte, it was supposed to finally be released, but there was some kind of dispute over the final cut and somehow it got leaked onto BitTorrent.  Now it will probably never be "officially" released, but you can download it.  However, the version that is available for download is not the version that the director wanted released.

@darkhelmet46: Damn that sucks, and quite ironic, like Lamo says in the wired story.

My pacifistic ways is slightly encouraged by the use of hackers to fight a non-violent war. The paranoid in me feels this will not end well. A couple days ago, a user mentioned having his gmail hacked by the chinese. If we truly had "cyber wars", I can truly just imagining this inconveniencing citizens and putting their identity in dangers. But what do I know >_>

@HypoXenophobia:
If there was an all-out "Cyber War", I doubt they'd target individual citizens.  Your GMail most likely got hacked as part of some kind of scheme to make money.  That's what 90% of the spyware is all about, people making money.

More than likely, they'd target critical systems and infrastructure.  Citizens would probably be affected indirectly, though.

I thought this was another attempt to hack the planet.

I think once people realize that all people who hack are not bad... things will change.  It just seems that if you "hack" or "mod" anyway shape or form you are put into the shadows and looked down on.  All thought sad, but true.  Most people that really do it and surface to the top to brag about it are people who do it for wrong reasons normally.

I still think that the public needs to be made to better understand the difference between a "hacker" and a "cracker".  So called hackers are not pure evil terrorists or whatever media label you care to apply.  By the definition of hacker, I'm a hacker for modifying the linux kernel of the open source OS of my n900, yet I graduated an honor student and haven't ever done anything harmfully illegal.  It's just one of those things that makes me cringe, like when less tech savvy people call a computer a hard drive (or does that only annoy me? :P haha).

I'm not saying there are not bad people doing harmful things by modifying hardware/software; however, they most likely are not even the majority of "hackers," and thus I feel the public needs to be educated that hacker =/ bad.  Make a new term for the super legion of doom type of people if the public/media so wishes, but deriding anyone hacking as being automatically evil isn't fair.

/rant lol.

Anyways, the trailer does look interesting, and yep that is kind of ironic it's been leaked to bittorrent.  I would have liked to see an official release, as it might have helped with the above rant :p haha.

After thinking about it leaking into Bitorrent..... You kind of associating some kind associating "snooping"/"hacking" to find essential find the video and possible people to hire.  In a sense its kind of subliminal messaging or maybe it was just leaked.   Just me thinking outside the box a bit.

Kind of seems like they wanted people to find it or never wanted them to find it.  Ideas... ideas.... ideas....
