While I was in Toronto I had the chance to check out a variety of 3D TVs and I wasn't impressed. I felt that the 32 effect made the quality of the picture worse and overall I wasn't impressed. How do you feel about 3D TV?

3d tv is stupid

By all means they should develop it for the theater/cinema, but I think 3d technology in the home should be put on hold until we completely perfect the HD experience. Once they do that, they can do whatever the hell they want with 3d but I sure as hell won't be buying into it!

Yeah, right now only 25% of households own HDTV's. It is a bit early to move on to a new technology.

@Wolverine:  Exactly. HD still needs more breathing room. A lot of TV stations have yet to even begin broadcasting in HD; I feel like they'll take longer if 3D is ushered in too fast.

@Wolverine: @Binman88:  HD is still the way forward, here in the UK the government has finally got everyone going digital, I think soon, HD will become cheaper, and more accessible. We have Sky HD which is quiet expensive, but also have something called FreeSat a non-subscription service, which is Digital Channels paid for by the TV Licence plus some HD channels as well. For the Fifa World Cup this year I know a lot of people that will be getting HD in their houses for the first time, 3D is so far away that at the moment it is stupid.

They actually have been showing matches in 3D here in the UK at pubs for big games. Haven't been myself to see one but here it actually is pretty decent, though quite a few people I hear did get headaches

Interesting, I'm actually curious to see what it would be like. I doubt they have that here in America though. :(

If this were to become commonplace I'm sure my eyeballs would find fun new ways in which to misdirect themselves.

As long as I have to wear glasses, 3D will never be interesting to me. Also I agree with the HDTV comments.

 i think 3d tvs are kinda of a gimmick,  i wont be using that as a must buy feature when i get my next flat screen.  plus wtf!, i gotta go out and buy stupid glasses for it anyway.

Pseudo 3d is a gimmick has been for the past 50 years and will continue to be, I say Pseudo 3d because its not truly 3d its simply a display trick to make you think one part of the image is foreground and the other is background, Which is really stupid for HD since one of the touting of HD is look how clear every thing is and can be seen when a foreground and background setup dictates one part has to be fuzzy to give the illusion its back there.
 
then you have the headache problems that me and quite a few others have with Pseudo 3d, I can't stand it red and blue glasses movies and comics? headaches, Polarized movies? headaches, Even the shutter glasses give me headaches becaue I actively look around and your pretty much required to keep your head stock still looking at the central foregrund image.   Last movie seen was Alice in wonderland I shoudl have went to the 2d version but like an idiot I put my friend over my health and went to the 3d to keep my self from having such a massive headache I had to take breaks, take the polarized glasses off go out side...ect and still my forhead and eyes hurt.
 3d doesn't add immersion to the film, it doesn't add quality quite frankly the reason the movie studios are reviving it is because Theaters are dieing no one wants to go spend the high prices for movies when they can just go home and get a better experience so the movie studios are pulling the 3d card out as it allways has been a gimmick that attracts people that think hey 3d and sadly TV and games and such are following suit.  I just hope the Fad dies soon...

I'm happy to lead the skepticism charge when it comes to 3D, I'm right there with everyone else who thinks the glasses are a huge pain. However, I was in Best Buy today and I saw a bit of Monsters v Aliens in 3D and it was actually really really cool. It didn't feel like your typical 'lets throw stuff at the screen so the audience thinks it's going to hit them' kind of 3D. The sense of depth was amazing. I'm on board with the 3D technology, but I'm still not sold with those damn glasses.

The world cup is going to be broadcasted in 3d by ESPN on their new channel, i dont remember what it is, but knowing them its called ESPN 3d or something.
