Samsung Nexus banned in the United States

Personally, I think this is deplorable. Also, didn't we already have a similar trial like this with Microsoft v Apple many years ago? I seem to remember it being determined that you can't patent the look/feel of something, just the code... (I don't think it's directly mentioned in the article, but the issue is that the Nexus uses 'swipe to unlock.')

Regardless, as an Apple owner all I can say is that I have a really tough time supporting Apple on this and it has sullied the image of the whole company for me =/ Strong-arming competition rather than innovating is no way to make any customers feel good.

What are your guys' feelings on all of this?

Edit: My apologies, I forgot to specify "Galaxy Nexus" in the title. Sorry about that.

  • I totally agree Id rather see more innovation from companies instead of seeing them trying to sue each other into oblivion.

  • Especially since it's being banned over a broadly worded patent on universal search. Frack Apple.

  • Apple's vendetta against Google is both hilarious and sad.

I'm just glad that Microsoft and Apple have an agreement to never sue one another.

  • Should we expect a story about this on Tested? Anything casting Apple in a negative light is never posted here, it seems.

Yeah. As much as I love this site, Tested has a HUGE Apple bias. If they do even talk about it on the Podcast, it will only be for a few minutes and someone (probably Gary) will dismiss it quickly with some snide comment.

  • @ds8k: @Stonyman65: The Tested guys typically don't talk about any patent stories, since they're all massively retarded.

  • @Falcon - A lot/most patent battles don't end in the ban of a device, though (from what I understand, feel free to prove me wrong if I'm incorrect)

  • This is just a pathetic and petty showing from Apple. Way to give the impression you're terrified of Android as a platform.

  • Typical apple
