FAQ regarding the new Tested

Created by Rallier on March 18, 2012, 3:22 p.m.
  • Welcome to Tested.

If you are new or have not been on for a while you might be a wee bit confused about what is currently going on.

To help you guys get up to speed as fast as possible without having to read a handful of threads, listen to the podcast and watch the videos i made this FAQ .

Unfortunately not all the regular forum functionality like post editing have been restored so for the moment please visit the following pastebin link containing the actual FAQ that i will gradually update.

  • Thanks for this. You've got something like a trillion typos in it, but at least all of the knowledge is collected into one spot.

  • @mirado: vive la france let's say ^^ I'll run it all though spell check when i'm done adding the section i'm working on. I'm just very happy that i found a way to pull editing the first post off.

  • @rallier: It's a creative solution that makes the best of a bad situation, I'll give you credit for that.

  • @rallier: Hey thanks for posting that. You left out the toppest of top men Andy Mccurdy. (@andymccurdy, andy on Tested).

  • @gpbmike: Thanks mike, to be completely honest i had no idea.

  • @rallier: Loyd's username is loydcase, btw.

  • @kingfalcon: Thanks, i added it in.

  • Man, I'm so behind the times on stuff sometimes. Matt Braga won't be around anymore? Sadface :(

  • You can add me to the "gone but not forgotten" list.

That was one of the sections that i was hoping not to have to update anymore. Shame to see you have to go.

  • You'll probably need to add more. The word we got was that Tested would be commissioning bigger pieces on a case-by-case basis, but wouldn't have regular work for us. So while it's possible that you'll see some our names show up again, I expect many of us will simply move on. Thanks for putting the faq together, and for all the other ways you've supported this community.

Also, please add @samcookwrite to my listing, I'll definitely be posting there when I've decided what's next.

  • Looks good. Hopefully this will calm some people down.

  • Excellent to see this. Very helpful for the lost and confused out there.

  • clarity bump

  • @samcook: That is cripplingly sad. THE FAMILY IS FALLING APART! *sobs*

Best of luck to you (and the rest!) in your future endeavors, and I hope to see your name around here from time to time! Once WM, always WM!

Thanks for contributing as much as you did... sorry to see that you'll no longer be writing regularly for Tested. Maybe we'll see you around the forums from time to time. :]

Best of luck in your future endeavours.

  • Loyd Case, freelance colonist.

  • @MAGZine: @Mirado: Thanks, both of you. I believe I speak for all the freelance guys when I say that this site, its readership, and the company behind it meant a lot to us, and we're quite sad to see these days end.

  • @samcook: Sad to see you go! But thanks for everything you did for Tested and all the articles.

Best of luck in your future! Don't be afraid to stop by!

  • Pastebin? What is this, a Lulzsec manifesto?

    Also, bye Sam.

  • @Skald: 3000 character limit + no ability to edit posts forces us to come up with creative solutions to long and rapidly changing posts.

  • Thanks for putting this together rallier. I'm in the same boat as Sam at this stage. Not sure how much work is going to come my way in the future, so I'm hedging my bets and chasing up some opportunities that I put aside in favour of Tested. I truly hope that once things settle down we'll see most of the freelancer's bylines gracing these vaulted halls once again, but in the meantime I think you should probably add @jasonimms to the list. I'll still be around the forums and such, you don't find sites like Tested every day.
  • @echelon11: The tears keep flowing!

Best of luck in the future, and like you said we hope you stick around.

  • And final clarity bump of the night.

  • To the freelancers departing tested, Geek.com is hiring writers ;) Also, if you guys need forums that are mostly not broken (lol) you know where to be lol.

The guy you need to get in contact with is sal@geek.com with "Geek Job" in the subject line along with your resume. Best of luck to anyone applying :)

Your lols are trying to hide a underhanded maneuver. That's dirty. dude.

  • First clarity bump of the morning

  • Can I try? CLARITY BUMP!! VIVA LE TESTOLUCION!

  • @Sirot: I was kidding about the forums! Considering I'm the top poster here, I obviously like this place >.>

And how was it dirty to point them towards more work? I applied but ended up going another direction so I'm sure they are still looking for people. I'm really sad to see them go of course, but it's sort of already done and there's not much I can do to influence BB to keep them on. Might as well help them find new avenues to write so I can still follow their work! If you think that's dirty, you probably are also against friendship and other things like sharing. You know, since we are making assumptions and all. Hell, if I was one of the freelancers let go, i would hope the community would point me towards other opportunities, so I was just trying to treat them as I would want to be treated.
