Yeah i also am upset about Will and Norm being cast to the background. I like the Mythbusters guys and all but i come to this site for Will and Norm's content and personalities. I know it will still be there but i just wish they got more credit for creating this site. For the new users it just seems like the Mythbuster guys made this site.
When its been Will and Norm who created it.
Funny how yesterday I thought the Giantbomb people were getting the shit end of the deal while Tested was coming out ahead, but now my opinion has done a 180.
Still, this is just day one. I'm going to give it some time before deciding how I feel about the new reality.
WTF happened to Tested? Will and Norm have vanised into obscurity. "Jamie & Adams Tested"? FUCK THAT! :-(
Sure it's great that the Mythbuster guys are getting in on the act, but the way the branding and redesign has happened is total bullshit. Give Will and Norm the respect they deserve and give the TESTED community (us) what we are owed.
As someone who came to love Tested, Screened, Giantbomb, and Comicvine for their personalities, I find this extremely disappointing. The thing that separated Whiskey Media sites is that the people who created and contributed to the sites were put at the forefront. Those fun and crazy personalities is what draws people to the site. If I want Jamie and Adam, I'll go watch Mythbusters. But for the logo to have "Jamie and Adam Tested" is just simply insulting. People come to the site to see Will, Norm, and Gary interact with each other and have fun. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Jamie and Adam are fun and cool guys as well. But...wow. I'm kinda speechless. I really hope Will and Norm do something about this because this is just crazy. If Giantbomb goes the way of this... I would be shocked.
Remember Will and Norm, we love Tested because of you guys and your personalities. This is insulting not only to you guys, but to us fans of the sites as well.
@stormtrooprdave: Being in the UK is not an excuse to not know about Mythbusters. They've been on Discovery channel in every single country for a loong time now. I remember being at a buddies house when Counter-Strike: Source came out, ending up watching Mythbusters.
Adam and Jamie never seemed to be the kinds to literally fuck up a website like what's going on here. The fact that the logo has their name on it, the Twitter widget thingy replaced with ONLY them on it and of course picture of them on top is really surprising. I'd figure they would respect what Will and Norm was doing and just.. add to that or something, not hijack it and expect no uproar.
I seriously hope they'll reconsider the design choices.
Sad to see this shit happening. I hope Will and Norm get the respect they deserve. They are the heart and sole of this site, and the two johnny come latelys can go screw off. The only reason I come here is for Will and Norm doing their thing on camera. If they are going to be shoved to the background and this site turned into a Myth Busters Ad I'm out.
One thing is for sure: We just became part of a dying breed. Pretty soon, these forums will be filled with Mythbusters fans. People who don't know that Tested used to be more than Jamie and Adam's blog.
Tested is dead. Jamie and Adam's new site is born.
How do I manage my account on here? I want to delete it...I wasn't overreacted to the GiantBomb stuff, but this just sucks hard.
It's ridiculous how Will & Norm have been relegated to barely a mention on the site and Jamie & Adam (or their parent company/representatives) have just muscled in, shoved everyone out of the way, gone "This is our site now.", had everything rebranded and the focus changed, and then paid virtually zero recognition to the people that made Tested what it was in the first place.
It was one of my favourite websites before, but this is massively disappointing. I mean, "Jamie & Adam's Tested"? Really?! No, Tested existed long before today and while Tested as we know it might be finished, I still don't appreciate somebody coming in and taking ownership of the site right down to the name and logo.
I will jump on the bandwagon. I was also immediately disappointed when I loaded up the new site. Jamie & Adam Tested. I get the business side of this, but Will and Norm are the life blood of Tested.
With that said, all of the content looks great, and I am looking forward to seeing what comes of this.
This is kinda gross, but hopefully things will change once things are all settled. We are the ones who need to keep Will and Norm on the forefront, so just click on their stuff and ignore Jamie and Adam's stuff . I'm kidding of course. OR AM I?
Also I couldn't log in as my old account so I had to make a new one. Oh well.
dont get me wrong, if this goes well will and norm have the potential to become full on tv stars. unfortunately what the website just became is not what ive been following for the last 2 years and i dont know if i would b e bothered to sift through the rest to find the bits i like
Will and Norm are a 100 times more cooler than the mythbusters
I'm a Wizard but this shit is fucked up
you stole my pic :(
Guys, you need to calm down and remember a few important things:
I've been here for two years. Why the fuck am I being welcomed to the site by a bunch of TV faces?
wont be a problem all of us pissed off will have left hahahaha
When I first heard this news I thought it was the most mind-blowing, awesome thing ever.
Then I saw the site, and my gut reaction was "UGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Where in the hell are Will and Norm?"
After spending a bit of time looking around though, I've come around to it.
Now I would love Will and Norm to be branded on the site, I would love that more than anything else, and maybe someday that will happen. As of right now though Will and Norm don't mind, so why should we? They seem to be fine with everything, they landed a fantastic opportunity and I'm excited to see where it goes. If more solid writing and great classic Tested content comes out of this at the cost of having Adam and Jamie at the top of the screen (which I guess I can get used to) then so be it. I'm not worried about Will and Norm being pushed to the sidelines, the Mythbusters guys will most likely be busy with the show and whatnot meaning that the guys will still be the primary content generators.
I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, I do agree the layout is kind of stark, but I'm excited to see where this goes. Especially if it allows for more Smith/Chan craziness.
Really going to miss the old Whiskey family
If they try to push Will and Norm to the side then I'm out. As far as I'm concerned this will always be their site. I don't know who was in charge of the branding of the site, but they would be wise to give equal attention to the men who created it in the first place, otherwise they are going to alienate all of us who have been here from the beginning.
"Jamie and Adam: Tested"
What the hell. I think I share the general sentiment in thinking that I think the Mythbusters guys are really cool. But in my mind's eye this is Will and Norm's Tested. So even though I'm happy that Tested has a comfortable new home that is sure to bring about tons of great content, I am NOT happy with the branding putting our two favorite bloggers on the sidelines.
@jonny126 that's the same reaction I had at first. I too have some around to it and enjoy that we already have new content up.
@donkeycow: Yes, that is a good point. I do hope that is the major factor in this current design. As big fans of Will and Norm I'm a little disheartened about how this design seems to undervalue their contributions :(
This is gross.
I think the articles on the front page say it all: Tested is better now than it was before.
Yeah but this is what the Giantbomb community was fearing what would happen to them over time. I agree that we should give it more time but it's like the soul of Tested.com is gone.
I supported them with my subscription and getting the merchandise. Then you see the new site and literally gutted out Will and Norm so they become Matt and Wes. But time will tell. I hope the podcast will remain the same.
The site is unarguably better in almost every respect. Great brand, honest dudes and better articles than ever before.
I dont like this at all.
