I don't know about you guys, but I'm kind of angry that with the new site design it seems like Jamie and Adam are just thrown into your face and Will and Norm, the guys who MADE THE SITE IN THE FIRST PLACE, are just thrown aside as a mere mention in the front page video. Sure, Will is making a lot of content in the articles, but their absence at the top of the page, and replacement of the contact addresses on the side for Jamie and Adam's twitter accounts is very saddening.
What needs to happen is that hammer on the logo needs to be replace with "WILL & NORM" and then have Will and Norm at the top as well.
I agree with you. I just checked back a few hours after seeing the announcement. It's transitioned into Jamie and Adam's blog. Very disheartening. They did a good job, now they're not even mentions.
Hopefully this is just a transitional period to get the Mythbusters fans hooked, don't want to confuse them with new faces. I sincerely hope that after a month or two Will and Norm get the respect and presence they deserve as top tier duders.
I don't like it. Tested is a community first site and as a result its community has come to love Will, Norm and Gary. You can't slip in two new guys, give them top billing, and hope everyone's alright with that because everyone here cares too much for that to be acceptable.
I don't usually even post on the forums (I'm not sure why?!), but I feel this deserves a post.
I've been an avid Tested fan since a couple of months after the start. The personalities of Will and Norm are what made it. In fact when I'm sat at work in my lunch hour the first site I open is Tested.com without fail. Seeing the duo be cast aside and placed into the background is devastating. The video on the homepage summed it up, it was like they said "welcome to our site and oh yeah there's these two guys which will help out abit, say hi guys!"
I can see a huge amount of loyal fans visiting the site less and less if this is a future trend.
the branding feels like a bit of a mis-step. On the one hand they'll pull a lot of new audience, but on the other hand they'll alienate some of Tested's current audience and perhaps confuse the new folks they pull in if Will and Norm do a lot of the writing/podcasting/videos (which I'm guessing may be the case given Jamie and Adam's numerous other commitments).
I think it may have been better had they not so clearly delineated the site as having two groups Jamie-and-Adam and Will-and-Norm setting it up as a us vs. them paradigm and rather branded it as the Tested Crew: Adam, Jamie, Norm and Will who have a broad variety of interests and backgrounds. Hopefully the higher ups are monitoring the forums and can come back towards this middle ground a bit more.
The Mythbusters are a good way to market the site. Will and Norm are still here and still doing what they used to. They seem excited to be working with Jaime and Adam, so who are we to complain?
I'm not surprised if a huge part of this is a marketing thing. They want to bring the fans of mythbusters to the site. The Tested users are already aware of the site and know who Will and Norm are.
Also if Will and Norm were really being pushed aside then the Tested site would have been bought and purchased and Will and Norm fired. So even if they aren't on the front they will still be a huge part of the site. (I'm think anyway).
If this is Adam and Jamie's blog now I can understand why they should be on the front page, but can't we at least get an "also featuring Will and Norm" below them? Perhaps in smaller lettering if absolutely necessary. I mean, these guys made 760 videos for crying out loud -- you can't just pretend they don't exist.
There's a lot of whitespace after Adam, I'm at a loss as to why they wouldn't have Will and Norm in there. Having those guys there in the first place seems like overkill anyway, I mean, have their name on the new site icon or an image.
To me, it feels as though they are kicking Will and Norm to the curb, almost as if they will become the new Matt and Wes and spend 90%+ of the time writing articles while Adam and Jamie shoot videos. I really hope this is just a publicity stunt to get Mythbuster viewers here like @donkeycow said, but I think the truth is much worse.
On a sidenote: Does anybody know what happened to Wes and Braga in all of this?
Though I love Jamie and Adam, this is something that I just can't get behind them in. I'm not going to drop this site like I feel I should for the disrespect of Will and Norm, but I will only be reading select articles by Jamie and Adam and as many as possible from Will and Norm. They must still track metrics of who's posts and videos get the most views so I think that's my best way to affect change. I don't know if anyone else agrees with that, but I'll be seeing a lot less of Tested in my future I feel and that greatly disheartens me...
Also, WTF happened to Testiclies?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Will, Norm AND Testiclies are being pushed off to the side :(
They are mentioned in the video. Cold hard reality of business, those two "geeks from TV" that everyone knows about are going to generate a hell of a lot more page views then the "indie media company". Glad Will and Norm still have work.
It's a little shocking to say the least. I think I'd be fine if Will & Norm got second billing, if not on the title, at least links to their twitter accounts as well.

I'm with you. Not a huge fan of Will and Norm, the people that built this site, (not even) getting second billing.
If it were Grant and Adam in that picture above I may not have noticed...
Well BermanBraun bought the domain, this shouldn't come as a surprising thing.

I'm going to assume that is is mostly a marketing thing, put the popular faces up front.
I will admit that i am not exactly fond of it though.
@themustachehero: Like with a hospital wing: when you bring in enough money, you can have your name put on the front door.
It's a little sad to see Will and Norm lose prominence on the front page, and maybe in time (and with enough fan outcry) they'll get back up there.
I think we know what to do - FAN OUTCRY!
Let's take to twitter!

Going to miss the old b*itch at will contact info.
@digthedoug: that's racist! ;-)
I'm not huge on it, but it makes sense. They obviously want to increase their readership, and re-branding it like this is sure fire way achieve that.

Yep this seems pretty darn disrespectful.

It makes sense, but stuffing will and norm in the corner just seems absolutely wrong.
I agree with everyone. I would've at least liked Will and Norm's name included in the logo.

Yuck.

I'm glad I didn't buy the Tested shirt, it had those other two guys on it. Bill and Dorm or whatever they're called.
Seriously, this is fucking ridiculous. I know why it's this way, but I don't want it to be. But hey, good luck with Jamie and Adams site!
And I thought no swearing would be the bad part...

Try that out.
It's fucking bullshit.
