Im thinking about buying a kindle for use at my university. As we get supplied with some big textbooks in pdf format how good is the kindle at reading these? Do I have to convert them to a kind of Kindlepdf thing or is it just a case of drag and drop? Do they read word documents aswell?

Is the kindle worth getting or should I just keep carrying my laptop to uni almost every day?

You know what you need Andy is an Ipad they are a mere £500. Imagine doing all the stuff your phone does but on a bigger screen haha

You really don't want to read textbooks on a Kindle. Trust me. It's a strictly linear reading device. The minute you have to start flipping back and forth is the minute its usefulness falls to pieces.

yeah as lane says a text book for a scientific/ mathematical subject would not be ideal on the kindle. As for me i have recently ordered the new kindle but i do a subject where they just say read this chapter and then come in and talk about it, not a great deal of cross referencing and looking up to be done so I think i will be alright.

@takedown50:
What you really want is this, but of course it isn't released yet and will be more expensive than what you want.
